Formed from the ashes of a number of bands and projects around the south London area, pigshackle came into being at some point in 2003. After jamming with a few slightly different lineups and styles, the three piece you don't know or love was born. The blurry eyed individuals that emerged from this dust cloud of white noise and barely audible grunts of pleasure were now a band. Using a stripped down set up and the numerous jams as a foundation, they got to work on the formation of a number of songs and although the band was still in its infancy,
a distinct style and sound started to emerge from the Orange & Blue studio walls. Leaning more and more away from their obvious influences, the crumbs of originality started to float in the metaphorical cup of tea that is pigshackle. Their first recording, EPIG, was recorded by the band in April 2005 and released on February 5th 2007 via Genin Records. The EP of loungey grooves, booming bass lead songs, weird timings and long brutal fuzzy riffs was enthusiastically received by crowds and critics alike and is available from Genin Records and all good music retailers.
A somewhat quiet period followed the brief EPIG promotional tour as they threw themselves into more and more obscure musical territory. Live appearances have been all too rare as the band have concentrated on writing their debut album. Those lucky enough to see the band during this period will note the dramatic stylistic shift from the early EPIG material and refinement in writing and arrangements. None of it should make sense and it doesn't. Keep your ears peeled, something new is coming! OINK, OINK, OINK!
The as yet untitled debut album is slated for release in mid 2010, once again on Genin Records!
EPIG is available on CD from amazon.co.uk as well as loads of great independent record stores across the UK. Or you can pick one up from one of our gigs when you come and see us!
It's also available on download from iTunes, 7digital and a bunch of other places.
