Pigs Might Fly are Pete Wintle on guitar and vocals, Liz Viggars on flute and vocals and Karen Wintle on bodhran and whistles.
Pete is a prolific songwriter, and has been since his days fronting Bristol rock band Panic Stations. His songs range from sensitive commentaries on love and life to exuberant slices of sheer pop.
Influences
The music is a blend of rock, blues, folk and original material. A typical set list would include a selection of Pete's compositions together with some Delta blues and songs from the likes of Springsteen, Costello and Dylan mixed with energetic Irish jigs and reels and soothing Scottish ballads.
The band formed as a duo in 1991. Over the years there have been a few personnel changes, but the current line-up of Pete, Liz and Karen has been settled since 1999. Pigs Might Fly are now based in the Cam and Dursley area, and have played in most of the local venues as well as places further afield. The highlight of the year though is always the annual picnic at Highfields School.
