"...raw, upbeat AltPop... consistently dynamic and radiant, harnessing Punk riffs and varying song structures. Jarvis has a powerful, New Wave sneer..." -- Ezra Waller, Cincinnati, CityBeat.
Summer of '73 Video by Steve Taylor and Paul Grundy
Pike has it roots firmly sunk into the soil of 90's alternative and 80's punk. With alternating male and female lead vocals and joyous harmonies they're reminiscent of bands like "X" or even the B52's, while incorporate snarling, distortion-heavy guitars and driving rock percussion. Lyrically, they feature pop-cult/horrorshow/comic-geek poetry with an occasional "love" song here or an "I hate my job" song there.
Their first two releases, The Sound Of Power Tools EP (2005) and From Someone So Small EP (2007) are packed tight with infectious anthems full of crackling electric harmonies.
Pike was invited to write a theme song for the Cincinnati Rollergirls titled "Jawbreaker,” which is played during roller derby bouts and used for promotional materials. Pike has showcased at the Invasion of the GoGirls @ South By Southwest (Austin, TX), Dfest (Tulsa, OK) and the Midpoint Music Festival (Cincinnati, OH).
