==♥==♥==♥==♥==♥==♥ A SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT ==♥==♥==♥==♥==♥==♥
There will be a fundraiser event for my friend Doug Kanegawa (of DMK World) on Feb 20th at Vanguard.
Doug Kanegawa is in the hospital due to unseen circumstances. He had a stroke on Thursday, Jan 17 around 8:30 PM. Once he got to the hospital, he had a seizure, heart attack, and then went into a coma. By the grace of God, he woke up Saturday, Jan 19 in the morning. Please keep him in your prayers that his recovery will be fast and effective.
For those of you who don't know him, Doug Kanegawa is a ridiculously talented painter, fashion designer, and graphics designer. He is the founder of DMK World for more than 20 years, which is a promotion company within the club scene of Los Angeles and New York. He is also one of the partners for CARNIVAL, which has given many hip-hop dancers jobs with many famous celebrities including Janet Jackson and Snoop Dogg just to name a few.
An icon and legend in the industry, he is hands down the longest promoter in Los Angeles and is well respected within the community.
I have known Doug for over 2 decades and he has been my inspiration for promoting events. To me, he is a friend who humbly welcomes you to his home and is always willing to lend a hand.... also always has a smile on his face.
Please forward this email to all of your friends, especially if you are a promoter, photographer, or performer. There are over 10 promoters on board and many performances booked already.
There are no guest lists for this event. Suggested time of arrival is 9:30 pm
For everyone who has a myspace, please show your support by posting this flyer on your site and as your default pic just for the day/night.
Thank you all in advance and I look forward to hopefully seeing you at the event.

Our goal with creating the Barong Jersey is to help spread the reach of our Pilipino culture, by creating something everyone can relate too and understand. I’ve always admired the beauty of our barongs, but not everyone can appreciate tradition. We need to update and reinvent our past to give them relevance in the present day era. Through the music Q-York creates our intent is to bridge the gap within our own people and build bridges to other cultures, the barong jersey serves the same purpose, bringing awareness to the world and reminding ourselves to the beauty of the Philippines.
