PILLOW TALK have jackhammered their way to massive superstardom this year, with their three albums occupying all four corners of the earth in a tricky 3/4 of an album per corner configuration.
"Who the hell are these guys?" asked "Sugar" magazine recently.
Well, they started out in York, England as a band with 4 members, knocking out TV theme tunes and fairly listenable jazz versions of film scores and rock classics.
Since then, they done grown into a "collective" of many drummers, percussionists and bass players, based around the tall/short partnership of James Tall Harmless and Dave Cheeseman. It's a bit like Jimi Hendrix and the band of Gypsies, except with 4 drummers, 3 bass players and a keyboard player and a much worse guitarist and the songs aren't as good and there's not as much jamming and drugs.
That's not to say the songs aren't "GREAT" ("My Woman's Monthly" magazine) though!
There's 3 albums worth so far, with a stage musical planned and partly written, going by the name of "Valley Hill Technical High", about love, broken hearts and complex wood joints in an All American High School.
Pillow Talk's favourite thing is playing live! Wow, what a frickin laugh that is! Described by "Horse and Hound" magazine as "Quite possibly the funniest, most entertaining and muscially talented band I've ever seen", Pillow Talk enjoy rockin' out and having a big ass naked party with pants down and everything every time they hit the stage. Expect laid back grooves about Gloves, sixth form bum-rockers about riding bikes and full on prog metal operettas about the Devil trying to sell poison cockles on a beach! Sounds great! Oh god yeah.
Have a listen to the tracks on this page, then seek out some more! You can buy the albums online don't you know - Pillowtalkweb.co.uk
love ur songs u guys always have one of ur songs on my profile now never going 2 change it seriously! really good song of urs to listen to when im tired or bored!
having played a series of kick ass shows over the last few days, we are looking forward to finish off our little summer tour at Nottingham's Junktion7 tonight.
we - and that includes of course our good friends Nex, Speed Theory and Panic Cell - can't wait to give this tour the end that it deserves.
so we hope you can make it down to what will no doubt be one hell of a concert.
Apologies for the grammar in the last message. That's what seven pints of Carling and a giant size packet of (baked not fried,) cheeselets does to you.
What's the latest news? I'm surviving my teaching training. Got's some funny stories from it. Off to china in summer which should be fun. Will spread the PT word to another country!
