PILL THIEF was formed in 2007, Portland, Oregon. Members include Joseph Enfield
(vocals/bass), Chris Johns (Drums) and Loren Jackson (guitar).
In the winter of 2007. Enfield and Johns had concluded the recording of a studio project
under the moniker Monaural (BaDa Bing,Burnt Hair Records) and was in the midst of
promoting the album. During that time, Loren Jackson had since moved from Detroit,
Michigan to Portland. Jackson had been a key figure in the Detroit spacerock scene
during the mid to late nineties in a band called Transient Waves (Fatcat, Darla, Rocket
Girl Records) and Spectacle (Vulva Records). Monaural having also gained notoriety
during this period had a long history together. Excited by the re connection
and geographical coincidence Jackson and Johns began playing together. After a few
successful sessions and a realization of a common aesthetic, the two invited Enfield
into the mix to add depth and voice to the two piece. Enfield, a Massachusetts
transplant, was a local artist also known in songwriting circles around Portland
under the name Enfield.
PILL THIEF is currently performing and mixing their debut album with acclaimed
engineer Jeremy Sherrer (The Dandy Warhols, Swervedriver, J. Mascis, Hockey) at The
Oditorium (The Dandy Warhols) and Klickitat Studio in Portland, Or.
