PROJECTS * IN * MUSIC * PRODUCTION. P*I*M*P
I've been involved in the Music Industry in one way or another since I was 9 years old. I know what you're thinking, "BULLSHIT" right? I played my first professional show at the Paragon in College Park, MD. one monthe before my 10th birthday. From that point on, I never stopped. I still play live music with my 2 brothers, Kemo and Anthony, in our band WASABI. (www.myspace.com/wasabimusic and www.thewasabibrothers.com)
Shortly after our first venture in the club circuit, we started recording. Most of our Studio Engineers were jokes, until we met Clifford "The Reverend" Totten. He's not called the Rev because of some kind of spiritual non-sence, he called so due to his ability to engineer as good as God (if God could really engineer). Cliff recorded us for almost a decade before he was recruited by Discovery Channel in Miami, for his amazing ability to work with computers. Needless to say, I learned everything I know today because of the Rev. He even built the CPU which houses the software, that is a major part of my Studio.
I put P*I*M*P together as kind of a side project where I could put together music which didn't fit the criteria of the genre WASABI fell under.
You see, I have a rather lengthy theatrical back ground too. And, if you mix the funk/alt stylings of WASABI with the strict and definitive feel of Broadway, you get a pretty weird, non-indie, like it or not, kind of music. Which seems to be the reaction i get most of the time. Mostof my friends who love WASABI, hate my music. And, most of my theater friends LOVE IT. It's definitely unique. I started mixing some R+B rythyms with some broadway style piano. What I get is kind of a Billy Joel sound. As soon as I finish with the COPYRIGHTS on those, I'll upload those too. (Yes, these are all COPYWRITTEN)
Jeff Hitaffer (ME) is the Bass Playing, Guitar Playing, Piano and Keys Crushing, Vocalizing, Song creator, Studio Architect, and Creator of P*I*M*P.
This Project is a fusion of all of my dreams. P*I*M*P is my Project In Music Production. There are no rules for my music. I write to please myself and I hope you like it.
