About 20, Senegalese (West Africa), ready and full of assurance, Alassane Doro DJIGO alias PimPlas decides to enter the world of hip hop. PimPlas started to get in the game 3 years ago by doing freestyle battles at school when he was finishing high school. It’s when the Lamine Gueye high school was celebrating its cultural journey that PimPlas got on stage for the first time, motivated by his friend Medza. Once he graduated, PimPlas decided to go to Panama to study International Relations at University.
Far from home in that new country, where he doesn’t encounter much of his Senegalese brothers, PimPlas buys beats from the web and writes his own lyrics. He follows the American style due of his admiration for rappers like Tupac, Method man, Dmx, 50 cent, Nas etc... His music is addressed to those who understand English because, says PimPlas: <..> He also raps in three other languages which are Wolof (Senegalese dialect) French, and Spanish.
PimPlas creates his own group with young talented rappers like Medza, Spida and his young brother Benrass. In his first album PimPlas talks to the galsen youth, suggesting them to work hard instead of waiting for the government’s assistance. According to him, the success of a country must be achieved through the young generation. In his new album coming up soon, PimPlas sings life phenomena with a lot of rhythm and pays tribute to his mother. Furthermore, he features Panamanian and American young singers like Itzel Jaramillo, Mariah Cheng and Lil Prince. He also plans to create with his crew his own brand clothing.
So to agents and managers, we will say get ready, because it’s a future Akon (same country) that we have in here, and who has on mind to improve the level of the Senegalese rap.
