The entity described as being piñata began its life in Adelaide, Australia in 2001. Original members Phillip (Bass, Vocals) and Tashii (Vocals, Guitar) grew together through the usual trend of personnel changes and then found that they were capable of flourishing when joined by Linden (drums) in August 2004. Bringing vital ingredients to a modern day punk-rock-pop band, energy; sweet yet mischievous; rhythm; bass drive- all combined is the essence that conveys piñata.
In 2001 and 2002 piñata discovered that they were heading in the right direction when they stepped up to the 2nd round of listening in Triple J’s Unearthed contest and when competing in RifFind Music Live their music was received well by both fellow competitors and judges which earned them a place in the finals.
piñata’s first release in 2003, “Dancing Zeb” EP, began to earn some favourable feedback for the band. ‘Rip it up’ street magazine described “There’s always a reason to keep your eyes out for an up-and-coming band, especially one that leads you to believe has a touch of something special”.
“Dancing Zeb” continued to receive a response through-out 2004 with Rage (ABC) broadcasts of ‘Debil-Debil’ filmclip and with continued support from 3D Radio’s play list. iSurf DVDzine also picked up tracks ‘Debil-Debil’ and ‘Sediment’ to be featured on their surf video, sold in many countries around the world.
“So Far So Good” demo brought piñata to 3D Radio’s Top 20+1 Charts for many weeks during December ‘04 and into 2005 new year with tracks ‘So Far So Good’ and ‘Human Museum’ being the favourites.
piñata’s live shows are developing and catching attention at Adelaide venues such as * Austral, * Crown & Anchor, * Crown & Sceptre, * Enigma Bar, * Jive, * Rhino Room, *Tonsley Hotel, and *Ales & Sails Hotel
Debut EP “Dancing Zeb”, and demo “So Far So Good” are currently available via internet and by personal sale.
The destiny of piñata rests on the collective shoulders of all it’s ingredients and it is from here that the next piece of the puzzle needs inserting….. Support, encouragement and contacts within the industry should also give the kick-start into getting noticed!
Phill and Tash were joined in marriage in December '05 and Linden became a Daddy in April '06. All recent happenings leave us happily rocking!

Finally it's here. We're launching our debut E.P. Nurse with a big party at Jive in Adelaide City on the 30th of November.
We've thrown some money at the bar to put on some drink specials for everyone who gets in early, and we've got lots of fun stuff planned, like free entry for people dressed as Nurses.
CD's are free on entry (which means you're really paying just $3 to see the bands) and we've invited our mates from C.O.K.E, Twelve Dollar Monkey (formerly Nereeda), and Booster along to get the place jumping before we take over the stage for over an hour of power.
