About me: My name is...well that would depend on who you are? I have soo many names that people know me by that it is down right funny..hmm from Rodolfo to Rudolph to Anthony to Tony to Tiny to El Pequeno and the list goes on and on so pick any name.
I got into Salsa back in High School which seems like ages now....During that time latin music was dominated by Spanish Rock which I loved but salsa music and the dancing aspect of it added more of an intimate and classy feel. It is hard to really explain unless you start going to salsa events and compare the scene to other music environments
Also during this time I was a Promoter/DJ for the Electronica scene when it first started which was sometime in the early 90's. I was involved in promoting & organizing some of the biggest events with thousands in attendance.
As a promoter/DJ I was involved in promotiongs and markering of electronic events then one day a friend of mine took me to a Tito Puente concert in Los Angeles and this is when I fell in love with salsa music. I then began going to salsa concerts to see performances by: Tito Puente, Celia Cruz, Ruben Blades, Jerry Gonzalez, Hector Lavoe and many others.
I didn't get into the whole dancing aspect of salsa til sometime around 1999 when a childhood friend began to dance with a L.A. based group called Salsabrava. I supported the group and attended many of their shows and filmed them as well.
Since then I have gone to many salsa events in L.A., San Francisco, San Diego, New York, Italy, Cuba, Puerto-Rico, London, Switzerland, Hong Kong and Tawain. Visiting all these countries made me realize how powerful this music is to people. I'm convinced that this music is one of the more popular latin sounds that is heard around the world.
I have created this space for the Salsa scene in Los Angeles and the world. When I say scene I refer to everything Salsa..From L.A. Clubs, Music, Dance studios, Dance Companies, Salsa competitions, special events and the best places to learn to perfect this dance.
I'm not an dance instructor or a studio but I know many professional salsa instructors where a person can learn how to dance to the rhythms of salsa music. Send me an email if you want more information about where to learn how to dance...
I have a good friend of mine that will be teaching a few classes very soon so I will keep everyone posted with bulletins.
Please also feel free to check out over 80 videos that I have uploaded from footage I have filmed over the last 6 years which include competitions, shows, salsa congress etc..etc..You can view these videos by clicking under my main picture profile "Videos"
