heres our view of the main stage at summer sundae:
Heres our mate will........
Influences
the wonderful musical history of leicester......we loved prolapse, showaddywaddy, gaye bikers on acid, atama, aviculture, crazyhead, hunters club, kookabura, the invisible spies, cornershop, summerhouse and the nancy reverb so much.....we thought it was time to put the local scene in order. Time people took notice i guess......its an ace city....honest.
Sounds Like
we'd like to thank a lot of people............and we thank you very much. and if it wasnt for prolapse, we'd never have wanted to do this.
Record Label
we don't have a label, we don't have time. for now
NAME : Pineapster = music co-operative, well sort of.
CREATOR : Charnwood Arts
WHY? : To help you lot, the musicians, the bands, and people who love to go to gigs. And despite Kasabian, the Leicester music scene well, was'nt that great.
HOW? : Charity started website, website taken over supportive web company (Cuttlefish) and hosted for free. Local bands formed, grew local followings, who formed more bands, bands then got on he radio, and namedropped by Bloc Party in the NME (Love Ends Disaster), then on the festival stage (Summer Sundae) and the record shops (across the UK) .......and the bar is set. So much Jo Whiley did a feature on us for her BBC RADIO ONE Show `In New Music We Trust`......
PROGRESS? : It was very hard to get people to take any notice, so we started a club night, and people began to take notice
CLUB NIGHT? : The Communion
WHERE? : It started at the Attik and ran for 2 years. Now we've moved to bigger, posher accomocations and we're upstairs at Firebug bar in leicester
WHEN? : Once a month, usually on the last thursday of each month. they each feature 3 bands, and lots of nice people come to watch.
MONEY? : Pineapster DO NOT make any money from the Communions. All we want is a decent night out to showcase bands, both local and further afield. We book the night, promote it to buggery and get a decent audience. The gigs are free entrance, but we keep NOTHING and the venue pay for the sound engineer.
WHO CAN PLAY? : Anyone. We just cant pay you.
SPECIAL NIGHTS? : There will be curated nights in 2007, and a beer BBQ, and Summer Sundae of course.
SUMMER SUNDAE? : The annual festival at Demontfort Hall, 5500 people, lots of beer, lots of music, a BBC radio station and much fun. We ran the offical warm up party for Summer Sundae 2006.
A SUCCESS? : 350 people came, we turned another 150 away and we raised £2,000 for charity (and ten people climbed fences to get in). The audience drank the pub dry all 1,056 pints of beer.
SUMMER SUNDAE 2007? : We're running the warm up party again, well actually we're running 4 of them, all on one night, as a fringe festival. (WATCH THIS SPACE FOR DETAILS).

UNWED SAILOR is helmed by Oklahoma-born songwriter Johnathon Ford. The basis for the instrumental project came into being while Ford was still writing with Seattle luminaries Roadside Monument. Pulling towards a bass guitar-oriented sound, the songs he had begun to craft did not fully feel right for Roadside Monument, thus the unbeknownst predestined forming of Unwed Sailor. Not aiming for Unwed Sailor to fall into the regular confines of a typical band, Ford's ever evolving cast and crew has been tirelessly composed over the years of good friends and company. Throughout the past decade, Unwed Sailor has shared the stage with the likes of Pedro the Lion, Mary Timony, Low, The Danielson Famile, Sufjan Stevens, Early Day Miners, Minus the Bear, The Advantage, The Starlight Mints, Battles, Mates of State, and Beach House(just to name a few…). The band has since been relocated and based out of cities across the United States, including Chicago, Seattle, Washington D.C., Jackson MS, Little Rock, AR, and most recently Lawrence, KS. With numerous tours in the U.S. and Europe, the band has traveled almost as much as it has evolved.
