Pinie Wang 雪平

About me:

Pinie Wang is a DJ, graphic designer, photographer and fashion designer.

Pinie was born in Beijing. She was 12 years old when she packed her suitcase full of Chinese music cassettes and left for Austria.

Growing up in China, Pinie learned traditional Chinese painting. At age 16 she went to Art School in Graz to study Graphic Design. Now Pinie is a graphic design freelancer and has worked for many interesting art or add projects. In 2007 Pinie Wang was a member of a duo which won the third prize in the category Cyber of the Young Creatives Austria 2007 competition.

Pinie began working as a dj three years ago, and ever since, she just can’t imagine a life without this profession. Her style can best be described as Urban Electro Disco. She loves to play very unusual and rare electronic remixes of mainstream hits and mixes them with the latest electronic music. In Autumn 2008 she started to organize Myyy Bitch club together with Matt Modny.

At the end of 2007 the international museum of modern arts, MUMOK Vienna, invited Pinie Wang to make a compilation of contemporary Chinese electronic music - China WearHouse Pop - which has been released online on www.mumok.at

From November 2007 till November 2008 Pinie worked as curator and fashion designer at CHINA GO, a young Chinese fashion exhibition at Gegenalltag in MuseumsQuartier.

Pinie had her first own exhibition “Lost Urban Hero” in play.fm lounge. October 18 til November 13, 2008.

May 2009 Pinie joined Wiener Festwochen Asian Village and showed her work in the ra'mien restaurant and she also played at the Asian Village party.
