About me:
Pink Bomb is a queer performance night in aid of Iraqi LGBT. Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans people in Iraq are currently targeted by death squads for execution, torture and mutilation for being LGBT.
The first Pink Bomb night was held at the Retro Bar in Manchester on 22nd November and was an amazing queer spectacle. We had comedians, musicians, alternative drag, punk, electro and some mighty fine weird queer talent all taking to the stage and doing their thing. We raised just under £800 for Iraqi LGBT on the night, which more or less keeps a safe house open for a month, paying rent, security guards and most of the bills. Safe houses are the main focus of Iraqi LGBT's activism - each house holds 12-16 LGBT people who are wanted by militia and death squads, and Iraqi LGBT put their own lives at risk to keep these houses open. Unfortunately as there is so little awareness around what is happening and so much ignorance from the media, there are only TWO left in Iraq due to lack of funds (3 had to close in November), a situation that must be changed.
Pink Bomb was originally going to be a one-off but as the night was such a success we will be back some time in 2008 with another amazing queer spectacle. Expect comedy, bands, spoken word, political performance and just about everything inbetween, all crammed onto one stage.

Who I'd like to meet:
All queers, dykes, trannies, heteros, bi's, freaks and don't-know's who give a shit about the legal murder of queers in the Middle East. Those who relish the diversity of queer life and not just the pink pound and predictable (often racist and sexist) drag we are fed as entertainment on the gay scene. Those who believe queer performance is as varied and eclectic as heterosexual performance. Those who give a shit. Those who want an experience and not just an E.
