ryan j gallagher (guitars / vocs / occasional ukulele / beats / keys / anything i can get my hands on).
Influences
everything is an influence, but in musical terms anything with heart, honesty and passion. if we're talking specifics i find the work of these punters inspiring: john k. samson, elliot smith, james mercer, brian wilson, robin guthrie, conor oberst, mark oliver everett, jim & william reid, dylan, strummer, bragg, phil spector (even if he did kill that lady)...
Sounds Like
dylan's jacket on the cover of highway 61 revisited. at least that's the sound i'm aiming for.
"if all of them are right and if all pills are pink pills, let us try for once not to be right." - Tzara (1918/22).
as an idea this project was formulated several years ago - but it's taken this long to get off the ground. the factors limiting me have always been economical; i've always needed something or another that i've not been able to afford: a new guitar, a new microphone, new software, a new computer. at last though, after years of progressing piece by piece, i've finally procured most of the things - by hook, by crook, or by charity - i need to make the songs i hear in my head a reality; the first of which are presented to you here on past mirrors future pictures... it has been an evolutionary process, and right now i feel like i'm at the beginning of a whole new chapter...

I'm an incredibly picky reader, I only ever read On The Road and it just bored me to tears. It's like reading a shopping list. I can understand why everyone enjoys his works but it's just not my cup of tea.
I'm more about modern writers, Coupland, Hornby etc...
So long as the laws remain such as they are today, employ some discretion: loud opinion forces us to do so; but in privacy and silence let us compensate ourselves for that cruel chastity we are obliged to display in public. marquis De Sade
Like truthless dreams, so are my joys expir'd, And past return are all my dandled days; My love misled, and fancy quite retir'd Of all which pass'd the sorrow only stays.
My lost delights, now clean from sight of land, Have left me all alone in unknown ways; My mind to woe, my life in fortune's hand Of all which pass'd the sorrow only stays.
As in a country strange, without companion, I only wail the wrong of death's delays, Whose sweet spring spent, whose summer well-nigh done Of all which pass'd only the sorrow stays.
Whom care forewarns, ere age and winter cold, To haste me hence to find my fortune's fold.

Yeah, I record all my stuff on my own. Fall is the only track on my page that I didn't record myself. That was one in a studio, but I do everything myself.
I'm at my girlfriends the now, I'll have a listen to the ep when I get home though. Liking the stuff either way.
Let us know if you want to hear anymore of my stuff.
