PINK PUFFERS - Drum&Brass Phunk Band:
I Pink Puffers sono una brass band di tredici elementi, con repertorio funk, jazz, blues, latin e "phunk". Nascono a Roma alla fine del 2005 come quintetto (tromba, alto, trombone, tuba, batteria) ma dopo un anno di concerti decidono di allargare il gruppo, di sfruttare la possibilità di muoversi marciando durante i loro concerti e di fondare, nel 2006, una vera e propria marching band, sulla scia della tradizione delle bande di strada americane. La potenza sonora dei fiati unita al groove delle percussioni crea una situazione in cui non ballare diventa impossibile. I Pink Puffers suonano ogni settimana nel centro di Roma, tra i vicoli e nelle grandi piazze della città, sui ponti, e ovviamente nei locali romani, ma non disdegnano altri eventi, situazioni in periferia o nelle altre città italiane e straniere, partecipando a festival, feste private, sagre, matrimoni, convention, congressi e manifestazioni. Il fatto di poter esibirsi senza amplificazione né microfoni permette una versatilità tale da poter suonare praticamente in ogni situazione, dai piccoli teatri ai grandi palchi, senza dimenticare ovviamente la strada. La musica dei Pink Puffers è quella tipica del panorama delle brass band americane: dalla Youngblood Brass Band alla Hungry March Band, passando ovviamente per New Orleans con la storica Dirty Dozen Brass Band. All'inizio del mese di Ottobre 2007 tutto il gruppo ha partecipato all'Honk Fest, festival di bande di strada che si tiene ogni anno a Boston. L'invito per gli anni successivi a tornare negli States è stato il riconoscimento più bello che la banda potesse ottenere: gli States sono ormai per la band un appuntamento annuale. I concerti nella Grande Mela hanno reso famosa i Pink Puffers anche a New York City. Prossima stazione: New Orleans... Hanno partecipato a Giugno 2008 al Festival Des Fanfares di Montpellier. La collaborazione iniziata recentemente con l'etichetta Megasound sta portando il gruppo alla produzione del primo cd di pezzi originali. I componenti della band formano il Joe Tuba Funk Club, gruppo esclusivo del quale solo alcuni dei nostri fans piu' accaniti riescono a cogliere il senso. Perché poi la band si chiami "Pink Puffers" resta un vero mistero.

PINK PUFFERS: WHERE PUNK MEETS FUNK EVERYTHING BECOMES PINK!
PINK PUFFERS BRASS BAND are a thirteen members marching band playing funk, jazz, blues and latin. Their base is in the nice neighborhood of San Lorenzo in Rome. PPBB started playing at the end of 2005 as a quintet (trumpet, alto, trombone, tuba and drum set), and after a whole year playing essentially on stage they decided to enlarge the group to found a true, loud and noisy marching band. Pink Puffers play almost every week in the center of Rome, in the streets, in wonderful squares and on romantic ancient bridges. Obviously they also play during parties, weddings, festivals and other events, in other cities and in other countries. You can find their influences among the brass bands' panorama, from Youngblood Brass Band to Hungry March Band, including the music of New Orleans, the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, and all the bands playing at Honk Fest. Their final aim is to see people in front of them having fun. WHY PINK? Because a pink band playing black music is an hymn to anti-racism, because the pink panther is pink (and swing, and jazz, and like them), because pink people are against bush and war and stupidity generally speaking, because pink is the colour of the flowers that will become peaches, and because pink puffers are clinical patients affected by emphysema (and emphysema is a disease of who works blowing, like them with their wind-instruments...). The JOE TUBA FUNK CLUB is their way to thank Joe and the Hungry March Band people for coming to Europe and for changing their way to play brass and their idea of brass band.
Prognosis for Pink Puffers is better than for blue bloaters.
