PION 2 ZION was formed by brothers Danny and Eric Payan in 2005, when Danny almost went broke purchasing a PA system, guitar, guitar amp, bass and bass amp. Soon they were jamming with friends and hitting up open mics. The idea was to take reggae, rock, hip hop, dub and soul and create something new that could make people laugh, cry, fight or get belligerent and up on the bar an regret a whole night in their lives. A moment to give props to old members: Drummer Jeff Thornhill and bass player Timothy Adams. In 2006 P2Z (PION 2 ZION) jammed with drummer Sam Johns at the Silverado Brewing Company. The trio played a couple of shows together before picking up rhythm, guitarist Brian Buchanan. Brian Buchanan was welcomed with open arms and played with the band until recently. He has sought other ventures since and will always be welcome in the P2Z family. Taylor Stecker has joined the team now and is a skilled musician with a lot of musical background. Also joining is our good friend Mike Cadigan who has graced us with his presence at countless St. Helena shows. Since the summer of 2006 PION 2 ZION have played all over Sonoma and Napa Counties making a name for themselves. They have shared the stage with bands like Iration, Tomorrows Bad Seeds, 3rd Alley, Josh Fischel, Blueshift and Remedy. They have not yet been able to get into a studio but they have purchased a Digital recorder that they have been working with to create what you hear on this page. PION 2 ZION are optimistic about their future and are working hard to keep reggae music alive in their area. They are planning a Northern California Tour for 2008 and are hoping to hit spots like Santa Cruz, San Francisco, Sacramento and of course Chico. Keep an eye out for PION 2 ZION.
