There are plenty of talented bands and musicians on the Polish music scene, but if you get down to who really works night and day as a session or stage bass player, there..s no doubt it is ZAQ (Piotr Zaczek). This very talented musician already has a very impressive record of collaborations he has done throughout his career. He is credited for his work with international artists such as Didier Lockwood, Carlos Johnson, Ernie Adams, Jose Cura, Jose Carreras, Gordon Haskell, David Murray and Dean Brown.
His grooving bass lines are laid down on the albums of platinum and gold-sellers with national star status (Urszula, Natalia Kukulska, Edyta Gorniak, Justyna Steczkowska, Kayah), the releases of renowned jazz and fusion musicians (OXEN, Funk De Nite, Czarek Konrad, Poluzjanci) as well as movie soundtracks. He is also one of the few bassist with regular appearances in the bands of various high-viewing-rated TV shows (including the Polish version of Pop Idol) as well as at the biggest Polish music festivals. His solo project "Mutru" debuted at this year's JVC Jazz Jamboree, where Zaq and his band played alongside such star artists as Richard Bona and Meshell Ndgedeocello.
His presence at Bratyslawa Festival, where he took the place of "The Buddha" Billy Dickens, should give you an idea of who we are talking about.
2006 sees the release of Piotr Zaczek's very first solo album.
Mutru showcases not only Zaq's trademark bassplaying abilities but also his skills as a composer of music too fresh to give in to conventional classification.
Zaq takes his music to levels which have rarely been reached before, including in his tunes samples of non-standard sounds, transcending the common usage of his instrument to produce not only the earthy deep grooves which made him one of the first-call session bassists in Poland but also for experiments, soloing and creating a sonorous background.
The high-quality tones of the recording, which encompass the influences of fusion, soul, pop and jazz, are backed up by the skills of guest artists - Poland's top-notch session musicians.

Imagine: You are an North-African immigrant to Spain or a South-American trying to get into US who has not much more than a few suitcases, his ability to work hard, willing to pay with slavery and to do dirty work - work that no inhabitant of the country you want to go to would even think of considering.
You already travelled a far way and left many good friends behind that you maybe never will see again.
You stumble out of the nearly falling apart bus or the smuggler boat, where you had to pay your income of a half year to that grim looking people with hearts of stone - just to take you aboard.
You are sighing gladly that you survived the travel and now take your first steps in your new home country.
And you are soon aware: You are disrespected, treated badly, your woman is seen as a kind of cheap prostitute, other people's children don't want to play with your children.
You are thinking of your former homecountry with feelings of sentimentality and you know there is no hope: you cannot go back...
