Pipers are an indie act. They come up in early 2007 in Italy and record a demo pretty quickly. English, Italian and Australian magazines review the stuff giving a quite high rate.
In early 2007 Matchbox Recordings picks the song Tonight Goodbye for the double compilation The Big Indie Comeback vol 3, with the best of the new indie scene all over the world.
In late 2007 Pipers are Featured Artist on XFM MANCHESTER, thanks to CLINT BOON from Inspiral Carpets who plays their song on radio. In the meantime, a lot of gigs, rehearsals and festivals. And, what matters most, some great songs.
2008 is a pretty good year for Pipers.
In February they support THE CHARLATANS in Milan for their unique Italian show. They play again with the band of Tim Burgess in September.
In April they come back to Milan as IAN BROWN's opening act.
In late May Pipers join SOUND CITY 2008, playing in LIVERPOOL and having a fantastic time.
After two months they are back to Liverpool for some shows: MATHEW STREET FESTIVAL and CREAMFIELDS (Streetwaves Stage).
They also record a brand new track at Elevator Studios: the song is called Photograph and it's featured on the Streetwaves compilation.
In early 2009 the first full length is ready so be ready for the event: you'll enjoy great stuff.
I Pipers sono una indie band che trova i propri riferimenti nel british pop degli anni 90 e nel successivo new acoustic movement inglese, sulla scia di gruppi come Travis, Starsailor e Turin Brakes, elaborando in modo personale il proprio background.
Si formano all’inizio del 2007 e registrano una demo abbastanza velocemente ricevendo entusiastiche recensioni su magazine italiani, inglesi e australiani. Sempre all’inizio del 2007 l’etichetta inglese Matchbox Recordings (nel roster Shaun Ryder degli Happy Mondays) sceglie di inserire la canzone Tonight Goodbye nella doppia compilation The Big Indie Comeback vol 3, con il meglio della nuova scena indie europea.
Verso la fine del 2007 i Pipers sono featured artist su Xfm Manchester, e grazie a Clint Boon degli Inspiral Carpets il loro pezzo Tonight Goodbye riceve airplay nazionale in terra inglese. Nel 2008 la band si toglie un po’ di soddisfazioni.
A Febbraio infatti i Pipers, dopo essere stati personalmente scelti dal cantante Tim Burgess, supportano The Charlatans a Milano, per l’unica tappa del loro tour europeo. A settembre tornano a suonare con la band inglese ma questa volta al Vox di Nonantola.
Ad Aprile tornano a Milano come supporting act di Ian Brown.
Verso la fine di maggio partecipano al Sound City 2008, suonando a Liverpool e vivendo la prima esperienza all’estero. Dopo 2 mesi tornano a nella terra dei Beatles per alcuni show come il Mathew Street Festival e Creamfields (Streetwaves Stage), registrando tra l’altro una nuova canzone agli Elevator Studios (The Zutons, The Coral): la canzone si chiama Photograph ed è contenuta nella compilation di Streetwaves.
La band ha appena ultimato il suo primo lavoro "No One But Us", in uscita per la giovane indie label Materia Principale. Il disco, prodotto da Matteo Cantaluppi e masterizzato a Londra da Bunt Stafford Clark (Embrace, Suede, Doves, Elbow, British Sea Power & Graham Coxon tra i crediti), è anticipato dal video del singolo Sick Of You, per la regia di Simone Veneroso.
