Some things are destined to happen. Regular fixtures on the Cardiff music scene, the three elements of Pippa Rogers & the Ricochet orbited each other for quite a while before realising they'd be better off together.
With Pippa Rogers on vocals, Shemi Jones on guitar, Darren Davies on bass and Huw Willis on drums, the band pool their collective strengths with the simple goal of making music they'd like to hear. Heavy on melody, but with enough muscle to get a crowd moving, the band draw their inspiration from artisits such as Emiliana Torrini, Kelly Joe Phelps and Feist, to name but a few.
Since getting together, the band have been plying their trade the length and breadth of the UK, picking up admirers every step of the way. They've also been keeping good company, sharing stages with the likes of KT Tunstall, The Delays and The Automatic.
Building on their successes in the live arena, the band are now readying their debut EP to be released on dPulse records. A three track physical release drops on November 18th 2008, followed by a digital release featuring a bonus fourth track on the 9th of December.
Not content to rest on their laurels, Pippa Rogers & The Ricochet are already hard at work on their follw up release at Space Studios in Cardiff.
HORSE FEATHERS were formed in Portland, Oregon and are Justin Ringle, Peter Broderick (also a songwriter himself and in Efterklang), and collaborator Heather Broderick, Peter's sister, on cello and backing vocals.
By using a variety of instrumental arrangements including guitar, banjo, percussion, piano, saw and strings, Horse Feathers draw from a palette of sounds that is old in approach yet fresh in execution.. influenced by Nick Drake, Nebraska-era Springsteen, Bonnie 'Prince' Billie and Cat Power..'
