Telos

Jun 19 2008 5:09 AM

"Telos is clearly not here to hand out sweets. ...a collection of experimental snapshots from one possible future, a dark meditation that just might be about the enslavement of mankind by machines or the dislocation of urban communities in the 21st Century. ...Ace. Doom-laden electronica, dissonance and fractured vocals."

That fella from 2.4 children died of the cancer didn't he? Shame.

Living with the Outhere Brothers would be problematic, because if the is any noise at all near them (doorbell, footsteps, dog barks) they both shout 'WAY-OH!' and even encourage bystanders to shout it too.

Stars of the Lid are easily one of the most important and influential bands or our times. Read a review of any ambient or experimental band these days and you will see their name being dropped, and it’s not hard to hear why. Stars of the Lid are masters of weaving sonic textures gorgeously into beautiful, absorbing, minimalist epic drones, wavering between subtly mournful and gloriously triumphant, offering the perfect soundtrack to lucid daydreaming.

Hear Stars Of The Lid play in Newcastle in a perfect church setting for this very special show.

Either follow the links above or search "Ever Since The Lake Caught Fire" on iTunes.

"Produced by ¡Forward, Russia!'s Tom Woodhead, debut single A Fire Born In Dallas (released on the Pay For The Piano imprint) finds post-hardcore and prog influences welded together to create a sound that is both vulnerable and self-assured. Admittedly, the usual influences of Fugazi and At The Drive-In are worn pretty obviously, but the band are far more than mere copyists.

Indeed, at their single launch they offered an intense and impassioned performance, with snare cracks and upstrokes reverberating around the venue.

Ever Since The Lake Caught Fire, it would seem, have more than enough firepower in their sonic arsenal to kick some of the music world's feted young pretenders into touch.

A question: Do my incessent repetetive ramblings qualify me as what someone might call a "Pirate Chat TWAT"? Or maybe I am ellegible for a prize such as the coveted "Front-Hamster Slipper"?

Did you know that the toe-nail clippings of an elderly relative provide the ideal garnish to any tramp's luncheon? If available, the entire toe-nail is also useful as an ice-cream scoop like the little plastic ones you sometimes get with a "Screwball" glace treat or similar. Obviously an infantile tramp would use the smallest toe nail available, whilst the "Daddy" would use the toe-nail from the biggest toe.

I think she shuffles to "The Rhythm of the Five Knuckles" .... or maybe she saw someone shuffling a deck of playing cards and is just presenting her own interpretation with "herself" representing said "deck of cards"? hmmm....

As usual enjoyed your "May" episode but I also "may" have enjoyed your "might" episode if that ever comes about.... ? Oh, I did see a full-page ad in the yellow pages which I have found useful.... "Freckle Consultant" Consolidate your Freckles NOW into one big one or maybe split your freckles into smaller ones but you may find you have more freckles in the long run. I thought you also might find this as useful as a herring on holiday.....
