Pirates, Ninjas, Zombies! is the solo project for Martin Crawford (The Pickups) that combines natural sounds, including mandolins, guitars, trumpets and accordions with the electronic precision of drum machines, synths and anything else available to a laptop studio.
The project, inspired by Martin's two month journey through Middle Earth (New Zealand), is lyrically based on fairy tales written of the people and places visited. Music was written in fragments, in hostels and on volcanoes using the only instrument available a mandolin.
Now back in his home town of Toronto, Canada Martin has be going through the process of evolving these tales and musical snippets into epics for wandering minstrels to sing abroad. His newly formed band, mainly consisting of his Macbook Pro, has been working hard refining these ballads for generations to come.
