******* From Sept 2002 through Dec 2002, Pi had a bi-weekly residency at The Rainbow in Seattle. They performed four more times together during the next few months: twice at the old "Sit -n- Spin", Live on Sonarchy radio, and for the opening of Lo-fi performance gallery in early 2003. During Sept. and Oct.2002, Brian Kent joined the group on sax, and Franklin Mazzeo ( nord, samples ) joined them on the live Sonarchy radio showin Jan 2003. Most of theses show were recorded in one fashion or another. It just might be time to open up the vaults and see what gems were missed the first time around.
WHO IS PI?
* Pi * improvises a unique blend of jazz and drum 'n bass combining the high powered drumming of Kevin Sawka and the relentless groove of bassist Thomas Bell with the blistering horn of Dave Carter. Add Leif Dalan's spicy jazz voicing's on Fender Rhodes and you have a perfect blend of Jazz infused Drum 'n Bass. Expect to hear loops and effects screaming from Mr. Carter's horn. Mr. Bell's super low effected sub bass will shake the foundation and keyboardist Leif Dalan adds an over the top aggressive keyboard style. Mr. Sawka's intense drumming cements the group into a tightly nit improvised unit
