PGP is a hardcore metal band with strong melodic overtones that support a great diversity to this new and innovative heavy sound. They formed in Austin, Texas in 1998 as a four piece featuring two guitars, a bassist/vocalist and a drummer. Shortly after in 1999, they became a three piece group following the departure of the rhythm guitarist. PGP felt no need to add a replacement guitarist while continuing to write new songs. Later in 1999, they added a sampler as the fourth new member. This added a new sound to the already ongoing creative changing style. PGP had now formed one of Austin's diversified and eccentric bands.
PGP has crafted a new type of sound that is very different than most hardcore metal bands. Sunday Abreo is the sole guitarist who uses melodic tones between heavy and driving riffs that generate a moving sound. This captures the audience and entices the listener to an unpredictable range of versatility. The low tones of Mike Licon's bass playing and fierce blood curdling screams create a spine tingling style of hardcore metal. The combo of this new innovative edge, deep tones, and Kyle Stinson's methodical percussive ingenuity invites the listener to anticipate what's next. Xavier Soto's crafty samples were added to support a more intriguing
mixture of already explosive sounds. Aside from being a hip-hop DJ, he seems to queue in his sound at just the right moments giving this new hardcore a twist that redefines conventional metal. PGP's intensely climatic music and their dynamic ability to slow the music, brings the listeners to their emotional thresholds and back again.
PGP has played with a variety of bands while in Austin and have traveled outside of Austin many times playing cities such as Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, El Paso, and Beaumont. PGP has shared the stage with the likes of Anthrax and D.R.I. They have released three CD's while together. The first in 1998, when they first formed. The second was released in the year 2000. They have songs featured on the Texas Hardcore Compilation album as well. Their latest CD was released in 2003 and comparatively proves to be their most creative work yet. PGP has made several local television appearances including a professionally filmed music video featuring on the Austin Music Network and Raw Time.
PGP's goals are nothing short of going all the way within the music industry. Their music skills, accomplishments, and ability to sustain a raw and rare form of creative sounds, makes them continuously ready to take it to the next level. They continue to create new music that challenges the listener to take the music one step further, and appreciate new hardcore innovative writing in its purest form.
