Hello! My name is Tucker and I am a 4 month old little boy who loves to play! I am a boxer/labrador retriever mix with some big paws! I am 20 lbs right now and will probably end up around 50 lbs. My foster owners make fun of my big paws but told me I will grow into them.
I live inside and stay in a crate when my foster parents are working. I am crate trained and have not had an accident yet because they take me outside every 4-5 hours to potty. I can sleep through the night but can only last about 7 hours before I will need to go outside. I would LOVE a yard to play in or someone who can take me to the dog park or run with me! I am a super playful pup, but once I get some good excercise I love a long nap. I have some sharp puppy teeth right now but I dont have time to chew shoes or furniture because I always have a marrow bone, kong or rope toy in front of me! I love kongs filled with peanut butter, that is my favorite treat while my foster parents are away!
I am current on all vet shots and I am on preventative medication for fleas/ticks and heartworms. Mom said I am getting "neutered" at the begining of August... doesn't sound fun, but she thinks its for the best. My foster parents are taking good care of me! I am very sweet and get along great with the two other dogs I live with! I see cats around from time to time and like them alright. If you have time for a puppy that still needs a little guidance and loves to play, please contact us! I would love to meet you and your family! Love, Tucker
Hi! My name is George, but I'll come to 'Georgie' if you say it really sweet. I am a 1 year old lab and my sister Zoe, who is with me at Paws, is too. We love each other and are very greatful that DAS decided to let Paws have us together, just before our time was up. As it turns out, Zoe and I are something called heartworm positive... but honestly, my heart feels both joy and pain the same as it always has... so I'm not sure what this means for us. The nice humans at Paws are making sure we take medicine for the worms in our hearts, which hopefully can mend the break in out hearts as well. Its not all bad though, we get fed and loved on, and we are together, which is the most important thing of all. Whoever decides to be our new parents will have to take us as one bundle of love, because I don't think we could live without each other, and we are all we have.
For more information about these friendly, playful and loving pair of blonde purebred labs, please do not hesitate to contact us. Also, to donate to their heartworm treatment, which will cost Paws a staggering $1000, please click on the 'donation' box in the margin. George is up-to-date with routine shots, house trained and spayed/neutered.
Hi there! My name is Zoe and my brother George and I just got to Paws a few days ago after our mom dropped us off at this scary place called a shelter. It was really tough in there, but thankfully, I had George to take care of me when I was frightened. George and me really miss our house and our yard and our toys. We also miss being able to cuddle with our humans... while sleeping on the soft carpet. But they never came back for us, so the humans at Paws took us to their house just before George and I were scheduled to go into the room of no return. I still get chills. SO, now we are here at Paws, and we are so happy to be together, and alive! But we do miss our home terribly, and so our vet put us on something called medicine to take care of our broken hearts (actually heart worms) and if we are good and take it every day, we will make a full recovery and hopefully find a new mom or dad to love us!
If you are intested in Zoe or George, please do not hesitate to contact us. If you are interested in donating to their heart worm treatment, please click on the 'donation' box in the margin. Thanks fo looking!

Savannah and her precious kitten are new to the Paws family and each day we learn more about this devoted mother.
This adorable trusting mother came into DAS with no hope of ever making it to the adoption floor due to the fact that she was nursing a one week old kitten. She has placed all her trust into the arms of PAWS and we know someone will fall in love with her endearing calm nature and affection..not to mention her unbelievable ability to mother her only baby. She is a very young mother but is committed to caring for her small family. Both momma and baby are doing very well and are looking for a foster that can give her what she needs.

SADIE
My name is Sadie but you can call me sweet Sadie as I am a loving and affectionate young girl in search of an equally affactionate human. My people at Paws say I'm kind of a flirt, so much so that when I am around, I'll want 100% of your warm attention as I have been without such love for so long (and I really dont care for other female dogs to be near... though I don't seem to mind the boy dogs that much). I'm between one and two years old and I'm fully crate trained so I will be no problem at all inside the house with you most of the time!! Plus, I am very pretty, as you can see from my pictures below, and I have golden topaz eyes that will just melt your heart.
Right now I am struggling with something called vertigo, which makes me dizzy and sick. The vet says that I will have to have surgery to get this fixed (which costs $1600) and my people at Paws are having a hard time raising the funds because of something called 'the economy'. If you would like to help me get better, you can donate funds to Paws in the City on the website and under the description just write 'Sadie's ear surgery'and my Paws people will make sure that I get taken care of!
In the meantime, I am still looking for my forever family, I know that for the right humans, this minor vertigo will be no problem until it's fixed.. so whoever you are, come and get me, I'm ready to come home!
HERSHEY
Hey there!!! My name is Fred and I'm currently taking a small sabbatical from Saturday Paws events, in efforts to perfect my manners, in hopes of finding a foster or forever home when I return. I'm a very affectionate guy, loyal as they come, but since I've lived in a boarding facility most of my life, I have become envious of other dogs and the loving relationships that they have with their humans... I want that too. I am housebroken, smart, and playful, and trained in the arts of 'sit' and 'shake' so I don't know why it's been so long for me... waiting for my family. My Paws humans often rub my coat and tell me how soft and pretty it is, like godiva chocolate, and I think that means they like it. In my free time, I enjoy the usual tennis ball, squeaky toy, and walks. I loooove walking on a leash with humans, and smelling stuff... don't you? I also just love cuddling and hugging... as I haven't forgotten that I was pulled out of a local shelter with not a minute to spare. I am very well behaved (primarily) and I am undegoing a social makeover for the next few weeks so that I can go straight into a foster home when I return... maybe you could foster me until I find my forever home! I would really like the chance to prove how great I am.... it's totally my time to shine!
Duffy: I'm a handsome boy in search of a family to love me. I have this awesome weekend foster home, but I really want a full time forever home to call my own. I love to be outside gazing at the sky, smelling all the great smells and keeping an eye on everything. When I'm inside I love to lay on the couch and have my belly rubbed - especially at bed time. I also enjoy stealing your shoes while you run around and chase me ... what great fun! But I don't chew on them - I let you catch me. I do love chewing on bones and ropes that you give me though. I also really like riding in the car, especially if you'll let me hang my head out the window. I like the back seat best since I'm a big guy. I get along great with other dogs and I'm loyal, sweet, gentle and protective of those I love. Could I be the right dog for you?

My name is Angel - and I am an angel. I was found at a construction site with my friend Lucky. I'm quiet and affectionate and can fit in anywhere. I'm housebroken, too. I love to ride in car. If you let me sit in the passenger seat I will look right and left if you ask me which way to turn! I love to play with other dogs and with people too. Could you be the one that needs an Angel lin your life? I'm a very good mannered girl.
Lucky reminds you of 'Tramp' in the Walt Disney movie. Found living on a large construction site, he was trying to fend for himself plus taking care of his 'girl friend' Angel (also listed at www.pawsinthecity.org) when some good samaritans managed to catch them both.
Lucky's an active guy who loves to run and to play, but he's gentle enough to sit quietly beside you after a dinner and watch a little TV while you rub his soft belly. He been housebroken and will come when you call (usually). If he can't be playing with Angel he'd like to be playing with you. If you like one ear up and one ear down, you should consider giving ol' Lucky a permanent home! He is a very sweet boy! He would make a good family pet.
PETUNIA'S STORY: Precious Petunia was rescued from DAS two weeks prior giving birth to -hopefully- five healthy baby puppies. She was brought into DAS seriously underweight and emaciated, which was somewhat deceiveing since her body was nourishing five other bodies as well. When undergoing her initial examination, Petunia received the wonderful news that all babies were expected to be born on time and in full health, but the vet also noticed that she was recovering from three close range bb wounds as well (yes, someone had shot a pregnant dog at close range with a bb gun). So, as you can imagine, her quick recovery with Paws and upcoming labor are somewhat miraculus considering the type of life that Petunia had survived before being brought into the program.
Now living it up in a foster home, Paws has promised Petunia a life of luxury compared to what she has experienced. Stay tuned for her live labor, which will be captured by a real-time web camera in her foster home. We are all very excited for this young mother of five to be!

Meet CHLOE, a young mother of two who was given only days to survive from DAS after birthing three beautiful babies... not because she was ill, but because the shelter was lacking room and could not afford to keep them. Fortunately, DAS knew who would take in Chole and her babies during their time of desperation, Paws in the City, of course. Momma Chloe is now spending more of her time adoring her pups rather than worrying about how they would live, and why they were abandoned. Can you beleive that the owner of this affectionate female surrendered he because she was pregnant? We can't either! The good news is that Chloe and her remaining two babies (one did not survive the shelter experience) have settled in quite nicely at their new foster home, meanwhile regaining strength and receiving human attention again. We know that the right person or people will come along to care for this shaken mother and nurture her growing puppies.

Meet Carly- the cutest little blonde lab pup you'll ever see. Fourteen weeks old, Carly was dumped at DAS and was scheduled to be terminated when Paws was informed of the minor injury that was keeping her from adoption. Carly has a double break in her tender foreram and several digits dislocated... which calls for great medical responsibility from the organization that rescues her. But Paws didn't bat and eyelash when debating the coice of giving Carly a chance at life versus a lonely death. We are happy to report that this playful pup is recovering rapidly from her treatments and is currently wearing a polka dot cast (as seen below) as a small reminder of what she must overcome. If for some reason, Carly's bones do not heal properly, Paws may have to consider amputation as a means of freeing her from that burden... lugging around a useless limb. But right now we are focusing on this loving and lively girl's new lease on life, something that not all babies in Carly's condition are offered to receive.
Feel free to check up on Carly and her weekly progress!
HUDSON was saved from euthanzia at the city shelter. He was going to be put to sleep because he has heartworms and city shelters cannot take the time to treat them. The employees were so impressed with this dog and his incredibly sweet nature that they got in trouble for keeping him for too long in hopes of a rescue organization taking him. You can see what a beauty he is. Just look at those blue eyes and merle coat. We believe he is a mix of Australian Shepherd and Greyhound. He has long legs. He is very sweet and LOVES to be around people and to have attention. He was surrendered to the city shelter by his previous owner. His heartworms are being treated and we expect a full recovery. He is about 1 1/2 years old and weighs 72 lbs.

TRUMAN is an adorable wire hair terrier/chihuahua mix puppy. He is young at only about 4-5 months old. He was rescued from the city shelter who could not keep him alive because he had a hernia! Now, he will have hernia surgery and fully recover. He is a sweet little boy weighing in at only 6.6 lbs! If you would like to sponsor Truman, or donate towards his medical needs, please see the donations link on our website. Thanks! This pet is up to date with routine shots. This pet has been altered.
PARKER is a beautiful long hair white chihuahua/pomeranian mix who is appx 3 years old and was surrendered to the city shelter by his previous owners for unknown reasons. Fortunately, Parker was rescued from the shelter by Paws just prior to being euthanized due to a case of heartworms. He is now in treatment for the 'worms' and we expect a full recovery for this gorgeous boy! Paws is currently accepting donations for Parker and his treatment. If you are interested in impacting Parker's quality of life, please see the donation link on the website. Thank you! This pet is up to date with routine shots. This pet has been altered.
PERCY was rescued from the city shelter who was going to euthanize him because of his heartworms. When we first got him, it appeared another dog had attacked him as he was a stray living on the streets. He had bite wounds and scratches all over him. He is now recovering now from his heartworm treatment and wounds and will be happy to be in a loving indoor home. He is an 8 lb, tan, pure bred chihuahua. He is quite a snuggler and very very sweet.

ISIS: My name is Isis. Yes, named after a Greek Goddess! The first thing you will notice about me is my ears ... they are big...the better to hear everything with. And they're a big part of my charm. I have some wrinkly skin, so I'm probably part Shar-Pei. I have a smile that goes for miles and miles.Although I’m a big girl, I play well with other dogs. I'm quite the explorer though, and I can climb chain link fences, so I need a home to make me feel secure and then I won't need to explore. Once you earn my trust, all I want to do is please you. I'm happy and playful and a nurturer at heart.
I'm a young lass, born in early 2007. Could you be the one I'm looking for?
