In 2003, New York City-based producer-engineer Rich Gaglia and singer-songwriter Bernadette McCallion decided to try working as a duo in an electronic-pop project called Pitch Black Dream. They wrote ten tracks for their debut CD, "Never Going Home."
With its cinematic moodiness, the CD was targeted specifically for film and television use, and nine tracks made their way into various television shows. While promoting their CD, Rich and Bernadette continued to record. They submitted a version of David Bowie's "Space Oddity" to Skipping Discs, and their cover was featured as the first track on the CD "Spiders From Venus: Indie Women Artists and Female-Fronted Bands Cover David Bowie."
Pleased with the success of their debut, Rich and Bernadette went back into the studio. The result is their latest CD, "Fading Away." Fans of their debut will be pleased to hear that the familiar layered vocal harmonies are back, along with Rich's complex rhythms. The songwriting, however, has never been stronger and the addition of more organic instruments takes Pitch Black Dream to a whole new level. Tracks from this CD are featured on episodes of Oxygen's The Bad Girls Club 1 & 2, and MTV's Road Rules: Inferno and The Real World: Denver.
In 2001, Bernadette released a solo CD called "Cry Wolf."
Tracks from the CD were also licensed for use in film and television, most notably the title track which appeared on several episodes of NBC's Passions. The prior year, Rich and his band Psych released their CD "101." Both CDs are available at CD Baby.
Rich and Bernadette are currently writing new PBD material and making plans for more recording dates. Bernadette is currently recording ambient instrumental tracks for television. One current project is the new horror series Zombie Hunters: City of the Dead.
Hi Bernadette - How's it going ? I hope all is well with you. Gee...I don't think I've run into for about three years at the studio ! When is there going to be a new Pitch Black Dream release ? See ya, Steve
