Currently learning to play Bass guitar. Starting in your midish 30s with no real music experience is kind of rough, but I want it too bad not to try. :)
Other than that: Books, Movies, Photography, Computers
Music
No particular order: Ska, Punk, Rockabilly, Rasputina, Jazz, Blues, R&B, Soul, Funk, Motown, Stax... You know, this list could take a while... Let's just say I listen to a WIDE variety.
Musical heroes are a bit easier to narrow down:
Jaco Pastorius, Charles Mingus, Miles Davis, Victor Wooten, James Jamerson, Thelonius Monk. There are more, but these are the biggies.
Movies
Anything by David Lynch or Quentin Tarantino.
Fight Club, Ghost Busters, Evil Dead (et al), spaghetti westerns, Sci-fi-horror-fantasy (it all blends together so much)
Played Eddie in the Rocky Horror Picture Show for a while many, many moons ago.
Television
Heroes, Buffy, Angel, SG-1, Good Eats.
Books
Stephen King, Frank Herbert, Robert Heinlein, Terry Pratchett, William Gibson, Tom Robbins, Mark Danielewski, Douglas Preston/Licoln Child, H.P. Lovecraft, Jack Kerouac, J.R.R. Tolkien, Arturo Pérez-Reverte, Neil Gaiman, Douglas Adams, Phillip Pullman, J.K. Rowling, Neal Stephenson...
You know, I'm noticing a trend with these lists...
Well, what can I say. Born in '73 in Hattiesburg, MS. Adopted when I was three days old. Lived in Shreveport and Monroe Louisiana until I was eight years old. Lived in Memphis ever since.
I have been married since '94 to the love of my life. We have a beautiful cat named Pixl, whom we have had as long as we have been married.
I fix computers for a living. It's not something I really enjoy, necessarily, but it is something I'm quite good at.
I spend way too much time reading and watching films.
I've always had a desire to learn a musical instrument, although I never really tried until now. Now at the age of 34 I'm trying desperately to learn Bass guitar. I joined band in 6th grade to learn alto sax. I hated my band teacher with a passion but was not allowed to quit. (My mom had already paid for 9 months rent on the sax) I decided to do nothing in hopes of getting kicked out, but even that did not work. I've been kicking myself ever since.
