Hondo Mesa Records presents

"Bitter Tears | Sacred Ground"
An album honoring Johnny Cash, Floyd Red Crow Westerman and Peter LaFarge

featuring Joanne Shenandoah and Michael Bucher

Produced by Dennis Kinsey, Hondo Mesa Records and Joanne Shenandoah

MICHAEL BUCHER is a Cherokee singer-songwriter who was taught from the beginning of his memory the stories, language and legends of his people. His songs are intended to teach, heal and bring an awareness to everyone who hears them. He sings about topics that are important to him and others in Indian Country. From the desecration of sacred sites, to Cherokee legends, to the sometimes seemingly Invisible Indian, there's a passionate quality throughout. With strong vocals and heartfelt lyrics, his music is a blend of acoustic guitar, native and a contemporary drum, flute, shakers, rattles, bass and electric guitars, and cuts a swath through native folk, blues and rock.

Bucher is twice nominated at the Native American Music Awards for “Best Debut Artist” and “Best Folk” (2007), “Best Short Form Music Video” for DIRTY WATER (2008), Indian Summer Music Awards double nominee for “Best Folk” and “Best Pop”, and 2008 Native E Music Awards winner for “Best Political Song” from his 2006 CD release, SEVEN.

SEVEN was produced by Peter Phippen and, recorded and mixed at the Sound Garage, Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin.

In 2007, Michael contributed his track “Dirty Water” to a new music video as a tribute to Bear Butte Mountain, South Dakota. The music video was produced in association with NAMA nominated video producers, PK Productions, LLC of South Dakota and musicseenPROductions of New York in August 2007. The song was used to raise awareness for Bear Butte Mountain being threatened by further development of the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. The music video was released in late 2007 and was nominated for a 2008 NAMA for “Best Short Form Music Video.”

Michael's music tracks "Don't About Forget Me" and "Sacred Ground" will be featured in the new documentary on Bear Butte Mountain, SD titled, ON SACRED GROUND produced by Aegis Films.

“Don’t Forget About Me” Michael’s second music video, is currently in post-production. The production was filmed on-location in western South Dakota at the Black Hills Wild Horse Sanctuary and Pine Ridge Reservation. Filmed and directed by 2007 and 2008 NAMA nominated video director, Christopher Crosby and produced in association with Karla LaRive, PK Productions, LLC, the music video deals with the protection of Native burial grounds, Native grave sites and sacred sites. “Don’t Forget About Me” was also chosen for a compilation CD for the Sacred Sites Run Organization and all proceeds have been donated to the organization’s causes.

Michael has performed in front of sold-out audiences at the Native American Music Awards at the Seneca Niagara Casino/Hotel, New York; Indian Summer Music Awards in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Pow-Wow Cruise; Longest Walk Concert, Washington, DC and the Native E Music Awards in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He has shared the stage with international and national performers including; Joanne Shenandoah, Bill Miller, Keith Secola, Garnett Rodgers, John Smith, Tonemah, Pipestone Singers and many others. Michael was a featured performer at the American Indian Society of D.C. Inaugural Event in January 2009 and has recently appeared on-stage with Wind Spirit Drum at the Gathering of Nations in Albuquerque, NM.

National syndicated radio programs airplay include “Earthsongs”, “Native American Calling”, “Undercurrents”, “Rezervations with Dawn Karima”, “NAMAPAHH First Peoples Radio with Robin Carneen” and has airplay on satellite and Internet radio stations including; “Hand of My Grandfather”, “AIROS” and “In the Spotlight at “NativeRadio.Com.”

Heroes

The Circle has healing power. In the Circle we are all equal. When in the Circle, no one is in front of you. No one is behind you. No one is above you. No one is below you. The Sacred Circle is designed to create unity. The Hoop of Life is also a circle. On this hoop there is a place for every species, every race, every tree, and every plant. It is this completeness of Life that must be respected in order to bring about health on this planet. To understand each other, as the ripples when a stone is tossed in the waters, the Circle starts small and grows...until it fills the whole lake......

HELPING RESERVATION KIDS
~~~~ GOOD THINKING 4 ALL OUR RELATIONS... HOW DID YOU SLEEP LAST NIGHT ? We hope well and warm... As did we. Although thers is a heavy burden on our hearts. We here at Good Thinking 4 All Our Relations, are tradotional natives, We follow the " Old Spiritual Ways" with the guidance of our elders, and the old spiritual ways we have been gifted with the ability to see clearer and objectively. And because of this we are presently helping the First Nations People, who are living in THIRD WORLD conditions. Yes here in America there are many native people living in THIRD WORLD conditions. Not all native tribes have casinos, in fact out of the 562 federally reconized tribes only about 220 have casinos on their reservations. of these 220 casinos many are not owned by the tribe whos land their built on. Out of all the casinos on tribal land 75% of all gaming revenues that go to the actual tribe, go to 12% of all tribes with gaming facilities. these and other facts are available on the web pages below. This infomation is being given to eleminate the belief that all indians have casinos. Some have very little, even more have nothing at all. Here at GOOD THINKING 4 ALL OUR RELATIONS. could use some help, with blankets and coats to send to the children and women in need of the most basic off things WARMTH. for more details contact us at goodthinking4allourrelations@yahoo.com
Hi!  I saw the George McGovern photos.  He looks so adorable still!   Good to see that his trip went well to Hot Springs.  Are you also on Facebook?  Would love to see you on there too.  All the best!  Nikki
