Plan to demolish part of former Asylum nightclub building wins praise from Springfield business leaders by The Republican Newsroom Thursday June 18, 2009, 4:15 PM

SPRINGFIELD - Several business leaders praised the city this week for its planned purchase of a vacant Main Street building, saying its redevelopment is key to revitalizing the downtown area.
The city is purchasing the former Asylum nightclub building at 1592-1596 Main St. for $630,000 and will demolish part of it to make room for a parking lot and pedestrian walkway.
