One day in 2001, single mom Rachel got all fed up with the bad stereotypes surrounding motherhood and moms, and single moms in particular, so she decided to take all of her years of classical music training, ear training, sight reading, vocal technique (sing into the mask, sing from the diaphragm, place your breath on the shelf, etc.), and violin and viola technique (don't get me started here), all her years of music history and theory and arranging and styles and writing out notation, and threw it all out the fucking window, apparently (although not known for years afterwards) along with any feeble hopes she had ever harbored of EVER finding a nice guy and getting married, and she started an all-mom punk band called The Lactators. The Lactators lasted about six gigs, and then died, but rising from the ashes came Placenta, a band who rose to infamy as The World's Hardest Rockin' All-Mom Band, and then crashed and burned and rose again and crashed and burned and rose again and crashed again, and so on until all that was left was the name Placenta and Rachel, and then also Tasha came along and Placenta rose from the ashes one more time as a two-piece all-girl doom/drone metal band with the added attraction (or possibly repulsion) of STRIPPING in the middle of the first song of the set.
Maybe Placenta will play again.
Maybe Placenta is dead again.
We won't really know until Tasha finds a new place to live.
In the meantime, you should check out the press section of the blogs. Placenta was on the cover of USA Today, at one point. Kinda cool for a fed up single mom.

Hey there, Here's one from left field... Ever wondered what to do in the event of a nuclear threat? A while back I came across some very disturbing information, which inspired me to make this video: Living Under the Shadow of the Nuclear Umbrella http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UaIim3Rj7L4 Both artistic (ensure you've good enough sound to enjoy the background music!) and educational, it primarily comprises official British government civil defence advice. Though the source materials are somewhat aged, the fundamentals remain relevant today. I encourage all to visit the YouTube web page above to learn more (Show your support! Rate! Comment!) and responsibly re-post and circulate as widely as possible. Help to raise awareness. Say have you checked out my web site (http://www.faberoptime.com) recently? Take care and keep in touch. Best, Faber. "Just a guy trying to make the world a better place."
