Interview for Bolton Evening News 2006 BEN: Who are you? Ste Robinson (spam) guitars and vocals John Fearns guitars Richard Whyte (YT) bass Norman Cook drums BEN: How did you get together? Ste and Rich were in Lofthouse, John was in The Arch Dentons and when those bands split up in ‘94 we got together. We have recently re-formed after a 5 year break and acquired Norman Cook, a drumming legend, (no reserve), off ebay. BEN: And the story so far... We did a lot of gigging ‘round Bolton and Manchester during the mid to late ‘90’s, supporting such bands as the Cardiacs and Half man Half Biscuit. We played the Hacienda, just before it shut down. Then it all kind of stopped happening, we got lazy and the momentum stopped. Then last year we decided to have another shot at it and at least get some of the songs recorded properly. As we prepared for the recording the BBC got in contact and asked if they could make a short film featuring the band in the studio. BEN: What do you sound like? Like a mixture of our influences The Chameleons, The Clash, The Jam, The Pixies and many others starting with ‘The’. BEN: What's on your record player? Ste: Interpol, Editors, raging kipper and Adam Green Rich: The Village Green Preservation Society John: Foo Fighters, Arctic Donkeys and David Gilmour Norm: a pot plant BEN: If you could play with one band, who would it be and why? Girls Aloud, or did you mean musically? Probably somewhere on the line up at a Northern Soul weekender. BEN: What's been the highlight so far? Playing The Hacienda. Also being filmed by the BBC was smart. They have been showing the film on the big screen in Manchester city centre, you know the one by the Manny Eye. Folks, on the Ferris wheel, can view the video, whilst slowly rotating. BEN: Day jobs? Spam’s a DJ, fearns is a pipeline inspector, ric is a saturation diver and norm is a full time drummer.

You are invited to LIVERPOOL’S BIG SING…………….

On Monday 4th June 2007 between 1.30pm and 3.45pm a rehearsal for Liverpool’s Big Sing will be held at Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral. Thirteen schools from Merseyside will be represented by their choirs to sing a new charity song called Warchild.

The song Warchild originally written by musician /actor Chris O’Neill, from the award winning film Backbeat, where he played the part of George Harrison. After seeing the plight of starving children shown on the ITV programme This Morning, when they were raising awareness for the charity Warchild.
The new recording will be available for a very small charge on download from www.indiestore.com/chrisoneill. For every £40 pounds made from these proceeds, incredibly, we can feed a child for a whole year who has been orphaned by Aids in Africa! A very small price to pay to save a child’s life. Peace and love to you all Chris.

Feb 4 2007 5:19 PM

Hi plainfield :)
We've been working hard and have big plans for 2007 - we're recording in March and will be touring a new mini-album across the UK from 20 April to 6 May. The gig details are on our profile.

We really want to tour for our friends. We'd love to hear from you if you'd like to get involved in the tour. You may be able to help us advertise the gig as part of the OOTG streetteam. Or if you want to help design the album or posters. Or if you're in a band and would like to get a gig on the tour - email us and we'll pass on your details to the promoter (NB: only if you think you'll 'fit' with our sound :) ). Even if all you can do is lend some moral support we'd love to her
