God. People who defy the odds...achieve the unachievable. Those who do what I'd love to...those who do what I can't.
Those who came before us who we tend to forget. Remember and be thankful, we are blessed.
About me: Yeah, yeah...I finally set one of these suckers up. Honestly, I'm really here for the music (friends and fam, I luv you though!!!) Random folks, please don't take it personally if I happen not to accept your friend request, I will accept people I know, outside of that, adds will be EXTREMELY discretionary. DROP ME A NOTE and let me know a lil' sumpthin' sumpthin' about ya if you have a private page. Outside of the 9 to 5, I keep busy working as the CFO of Briclyn Entertainment LLC working with my wonderful business partners Anshia Tull (CEO) and Tiffany "Sweetlocs" Taylor (President)(http://briclynentertaiment.com). I love being introduced to new music, sounds, and artist. I know some really good people who keep me well informed (you guys are the best!). You got someone you think I should listen to, get at me with the info! Hip Hop/Soul/R&B/Funk/Jazz/Gospel, whatever, I give (ALMOST) everything a chance. Live music is my fix....If I got paid to go to shows, I'd be rich. There's a good chance I've seen my most favorite artists perform 2 to 5 times. I'm a regular girl from JeRzEy!!! Yes, I still buy cd's. I can't sing, can't rap, can't play an instrument, can't read or write music...maybe thats what makes me appreciate it that much more. I swear I could've made a great guitar player or drummer. Thank goodness for XM radio. How many folks can say they've seen ATCQ perform in '06 or the past 10 years? Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 14, Op. 27, No. 2 is my jam!!! Marvin Gaye's "What's Goin' On" ALBUM is one of my favorites, Curtis Mayfield is my homie! The soul of Otis Redding is amazing, Mint Condition is at the top of my list of best live band performances, I sleep to Nas The Lost Tapes, I've seen The Roots perform live more times than any other artist/group but many are not far behind...Lenny Williams holds the record for the ultimate "begging" song. Motown...but Stax and Atlantic still get a lot of love;). Luther..what can you say but flawless, R.I.P. If you are actually reading this babble, God bless you! If I've managed to put a smile on your face, get a chuckle out of you, or a huge whole hearted laugh at any point in your lifetime, either in person: friends, fam, collegues, and the random Joe that saw me trip on the sidewalk the other day (you ain't right!), or via reading this page, I've done my job;)
Who I'd like to meet: A Great Day In Harlem - Jazz Portrait - 1958You're looking at the single most significant jazz portrait taken in the 20th century. Around ten one morning in the summer of 1958, 57 musicians representing three generations of jazz history showed up at 126th Street, between Fifth and Madison Avenues in Harlem to be photographed taken by Art Kane, a freelance photographer working for Esquire magazine. No one believed anyone could gather this many talents and temperments so very early on a summer morning but it all happened like magic, and the world was immediately smitten when this picture was published in Esquire magazine January 1959. This was Art Kane's first assignment as a professional photographer.http://www.artkane.comA Great Day In Hip Hop - 1998 Dec. Cover of XXL Magazine The cover photo was taken by Gordon Parks and was a Hip Hop recreation of Art Kane's seminal Jazz masters portrait "A Great Day in Harlem". Like Kane's picture, Park's version brought together a veritable who's who of Hip Hop greats, legends and up and comers overflowing on the stoops and sidewalks of three brownstones in Harlem. Rakim, Fat Joe, Fab 5 Freddy, Da Brat, Peter Gunz, Shyheim, Yoga Russ, Q-Tip, Cee-Lo, Sticky Fingaz, Debbie Harry, Wyclef, Jermaine Dupri, Luke, Kool Herc, E-40. All regions were well represented, and by all reports, the scene was all love, respect and peace. and power of Hip Hop.
Kai - Yes...that's short for Kai's Friend Space (Top 40)
