Definitely not plain. Nobody named Jane....what gives ?
PLAIN JANE is a band where the girl sings like a guy and the guys play like girls with hormone problems. Well, not exactly, but close. However, this is a good thing, since the sound squall created by this group gloriously roars, foams, arcs, and subsides in a fuzzy ocean of garage electro-pop-alt-rock. Here's a math problem to consider: Joan Jett x Radiohead + The Killers - (fame + money) = PLAIN JANE. Hailing from a well-to-do "suburb of no city" in the middle of a state-size cornfield, PLAIN JANE is just another anomaly on the list....or are they ? Untainted by things from the big city like "art" and "culture" yet secretly craving cultured art, the members of PLAIN JANE looked for inspiration within and without to cure their ennui. When that didn't work, they formed a band and started writing songs - identified by their strong and emotive female vocals, intense yet tight rhythm section, chunky laid-back guitars, and atmospheric blips and whooshes. So far, so good....sew buttons. PLAIN JANE is based out of Bloomington, Illinois, and plays throughout the Midwest. That's right, we'll capitalize what we damn well Please.
