   About Plain Meanness
DigStation - Indie Music Downloads
Plain Meanness emerged two years ago from the fertile Arkansas Delta with the culmination of members from three reputable local music actsThe Last Farewell, Gardenia Sweat, and The Sea Monsters. The combination of Patrick Dailey (vocals and guitar), Derek Doyle (upright bass), Grant Harbison (Trumpet), and Greg Arnold (drums) results in an eclectic mix of old-time country & western, rockabilly, surf rock, jazz, and punk, but according to the band, they play just Rock 'N' Roll. The members of the band have been known to play on the same card with such acts as Th' Legendary Shack Shakers, Unknown Hinson, Scott H. Biram, the Gourds...and Black Oak Arkansas. The band's first full length album is out now! Photobucket

The Sower and the Reaper by Plain Meanness may best be encapsulated as the soundtrack to the spaghetti Western Quentin Tarantino has yet to make. The concept album presents a tale of love, murder, and vengeance told through a deceptively simple narrative teeming with symbolism. Furthermore, all sides of the packaging morph into what appears to be a children’s book co-authored by Edgar Allen Poe and William Blake. The sound is a mixture of western swing, punk, jazz, and surf rock. Guest players on the album include alt-country heavyweight Max Johnston, who is best known for his work with Uncle Tupelo, Wilco and the Gourds, and the legendary Sun Studios recording artist and Rockabilly Hall of Fame member Sonny Burgess.

Greg, I have to tell ya, I sooo enjoyed your band the other day. I think I have seen every one you have been in the last 20 or so years ago, and this is my fav. Hope you play again before I leave Jonesboro so I can see you play without holding a 3 year old. Take Care

Well, the office has had me tied down quite a bit lately. Since I hired on 4 months ago my job responsibilities have TRIPLED - I'm happy they have faith in me but it's a bit stressful. Everything will level out soon though.
Looking to buy all new guitar gear soon so I'll keep you posted!
