Le projet Pl[a]in Sud associe le collectif de jazz La Tribu Hérisson et un musicien de musique traditionnelle arabe. Ce quintet mêle la tradition arabo-andalouse aux musiques occidentales d’aujourd’hui (jazz, musiques électro-acoustiques, musiques improvisées et contemporaines).
Une première étape de travail en association avec le oudiste tunisien Khaled Ben Yahia s'est concrétisée par l'enregistrement du CD pl[a]in sud, dont sont extraits les morceaux en écoute ci-dessus. Le projet se poursuit désormais sur scène avec le joueur de oud palestinien de renommée internationale Adel Salameh.
La rencontre, l’échange entre ces deux cultures - à la fois différentes et parentes par leurs racines - constitue l’essence même de ce projet. Pl[a]in Sud explore et développe l’héritage laissé par le brassage des peuples méditerranéens en l’intégrant dans une démarche musicale contemporaine.
La combinaison des divers timbres instrumentaux associés à un dispositif électroacoustique multiplie les richesses sonores. Les compositions originales de Pl[a]in Sud s’inscrivent dans une forme ouverte, du tutti au solo, laissant une large place à l’improvisation et un vaste champ d’expressivité à chaque musicien.
Énergique ou intimiste, foisonnante ou épurée, la musique de Pl[a]in Sud invite son public sur un parcours contrasté à la manière d’une suite musicale.
Il s’ensuit une musique colorée et inspirée où les visions et les personnalités de chacun interagissent et convergent vers une cohésion d’ensemble pour donner à cette formation une identité forte.
Pl[a]in Sud’s project is an artistic meeting between the jazz collective La Tribu Hérisson and an arab traditional music musician. The quintet combines the arabo-Andalusian tradition with the Western modern music (jazz, electroacoustic music, impromptu and contemporary music).
A first stage of work in partnership with the Tunisian oudist Khaled Ben Yahia was concretized by the recording of the album “pl[a]in sud”, from which pieces above are taken. The project continues from now on scene with the world-famous Palestinian oudist Adel Salameh.
The meeting, the exchange between these two cultures - at the same time different and relationships by their roots - constitutes the heart of this project. Pl[a]in Sud explores and develops the heritage left by the mixing of the Mediterranean people by integrating it in a contemporary musical step.
The combination of the various instrumental stamps associated to a device electroacoustic multiplies the sound richnesses. The original compositions of Pl[a]in Sud fit in an opened form, tutti with the solo, leaving a broad place with the improvisation and a vast field of expressivity to each musician.
Energetic or intimist, plentiful or purified, the music of Pl[a]in Sud invites his public on a course contrasted with the manner of a musical Suite.
It follows a music coloured and inspired where the visions and the personalities of each one interact and convergent towards an overall cohesion to give to this formation a strong identity.
