Plan 9 Music is a full service, independent retailer with more than 25 years in the music retailing business. We are members of the Coalition of Independent Music Stores (CIMS) . We have 3 stores in the central Virginia area and one in North Carolina. All of our locations addresses and phone numbers can be found here.
We carry a deep rock catalog, but we also carry an extensive selection in most musical genres including but not limited to jazz, blues, soul, hip hop, electronic, reggae, world, country, folk, bluegrass, and classical. Plan 9 also buys and sells a broad selection of used CDs, DVDs, vinyl, and video games. We have Gift Certificates, T-shirts, posters, magazines, stickers, buttons, and other cool music stuff to spend your hard earned money on. We also carry tickets to local events at Alley Katz, Canal Club, Innsbrook Pavillion, Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens; as well as John Paul Jones Arena, and the Charlottesville Pavillion in Charlottesville.
Plan 9 offers a program to earn you credit on your purchases, called Sound Rewards. It's open to every customer, and you can sign up at any location. Sound Rewards is a 5% rebate on purchases (excluding items already on sale, and tickets). Once you reach $180 in sales, Plan 9 gives you a $9 coupon, redeemable on anything at Plan 9.
The program is free, and all you have to do is present the keytag at the beginning of every purchase to accumulate credit! Once you're a Sound Rewards customer, you will start to receive special benefits by email such as private sale shopping days, and other discounts.
Plan 9 is an active supporter of the independent music community, supporting local artists and their shows. We currently carry over 300 titles on consignment from area bands. If you are interested in putting your band's CD on consignment directly with us, all you have to do is bring it into any Plan 9 location, and we'd be happy to help you out.
