From the haves to the have-nots. From the sound to the sick. From the storekeeper to the empty stomachs. From the liberated to the chained. From you to all of them.....Humana People To People Charter 1998
The objective of Planet Aid's Clothes Collection is to establish an efficient reuse system for second hand clothing. It is a locally based activity benefiting Planet Aid's development aid objectives, while also contributing to local and national goals for increased recycling.
This is how it works:
We place our clothes collection boxes in your neighborhood. You drop off your unwanted clothes, shoes, and small toys in a box.
Note: We can not accept appliances, furniture, or household goods. Please do not leave items outside our boxes.
The clothing is regularly collected by one of our drivers and brought to our warehouse. The clothing is then packaged for re-sale before being shipped out. The clothing is either re-sold in U.S. and Canada or overseas.
The proceeds from the sale of the clothing are used for community development projects in Africa and Asia.
This is all made possible by our yellow collection boxes. We routinely empty the boxes and assure that they are kept as neat as possible. When necessary, we switch boxes in need of repair.
We would like to thank our site hosts for generously donating space in their parking lots for our collection boxes. Their help is key to our success!

Planet Aid is a NGO dedicated to improving the lives of people in developing countries. Our objectives include development, relief aid, and protecting the environment.
Our activities in the USA fall into the following categories: Clothes Collection and Recycling, Second Hand Clothing Stores, Partnership in Development and Information about development issues.
Planet Aid was founded in 1997 and has since then collected and resold used clothing as a means to raise funds for development projects overseas. Planet Aid currently has more than 8000 collection boxes in the following metropolitan areas::
We will take clothing, shoes, toys, vhs tapes, cds, dvds and books at our drop-off locations.
How Can I Help?
Most people have items of good clothing which they never use. The clothes are stored in closets or attics and eventually are thrown in the trash and dumped into landfills.
Planet Aid tackles this problem right in your community by recycling and reusing the clothes. We collect the used clothing, keep it out of the landfills and thus help towns and municipalities to save money and resources.
The clothes are resold to raise funds for development projects such as schools, health programs or HIV/AIDS prevention in Africa, Asia and Central America.
This is how you can help:
We are looking for more businesses and organizations to host our collection boxes, so that we can collect more clothes and raise more funds.

Donate funds for development
$1 can't even buy you a soda here in the U.S. anymore.
$1 goes much further in an impoverished part of the world, where U.S. dollars are worth more than local currencies, and goods and services are generally cheaper.
Planet Aid contributes the funds raised to established development programs in Africa, Central America, China, and India - programs that have the infrastructure and experience to maximize the value of money invested.
$20 can educate 14 people through our HOPE HIV/AIDS program in Zambia, where the HIV infection rate is 16.5% (source: United Nations).
$50 can support 1 child at boarding school at the Benguela Street Children's School, Angola.
To Donate directly to Planet Aid please click on the badge below. This link will take you directly to the Paypal site where you may make a donation of $5, $10, $20 and more to Planet Aid.
These donations will aid in helping us fund various programs in Africa and Asia!
You can also find us on Facebook!
You can also visit Giveline.com and help Planet Aid as you shop. A percentage of the sales of the items on their website will go directly to Planet Aid to benefit programs in Africa!
