I'm into different types of music. I'm not into all of it. I like what I like. No excuses or explanations. I like it because something inside me likes it. So many people are not strong enough to be themselves. Pressure and influences make them want to fit in. It is difficult to work with someone who is a chameleon. I've been there and left it behind. I'm open to changing my sound and style. I play a more traditional supportive role now. I have a different sound that is developing. I play with a pick. I used to go hard underneath. Now I try to float under the music and supply the right anchoring notes. I'll step out and drive, lead or fade and support. I look at my gear as tools to perform. It's not a classic purchase. I wouldn't buy a hammer to show off. I buy a hammer to pound out nails. I buy a guitar to pound out notes. I need to try it like that and make the modifications I desire to make it work well. The whole adventure has been lots of fun.
Influences
Life and all it has to offer. I take in the fact and fiction. The seen and the heard. The written and the word. I take it in and spin it out in my own fashion. Then I pass it on to be molded and reworked by someone else. Music is the extension of my feelings. Wood, Steel and Heart. My head on seems to get in way.
Sounds Like
Me. I have worked to accept, not develop, my sound. We all have music inside of us. Being brave enough to embrace it is another story. The challenged these days is to play the music in my head. I've worked very hard to play what's in my head. I'm still getting there. What is coming out is an interesting. My bass playing is changing dramatically.
I went to Gateway Regional High School. From there I worked two years and joined the Army National Guard. I served 8 years and was discharged as a SGT. After bootcamp I went to Westfield State College. I received a degree in PE and Bio. I went to drills and played football for 2 years. I was member of the Student Union and Student Government. After college I work three year as an insurance investigator. I then found my true calling teaching in private schools and working in Human Services.
I have written for newspapers and magazines. I have been in numerous bands as a bass player. I have written several lyrics. I work best with a partner. I find it motivational. I love graphic novels and writing stories.
Lately I'm sick of musicians. Many of them have behavior and social skills that would never be accepted anywhere else on the planet.
I have two daughters. Angel who has blessed me with two beautiful grandchildren and Amanda who drives me crazy. She's me. She's my daughter Dick. Most of the time I want to give her a swift kick in the ass. She's smart as a whip and needs to get things together. She's joined the Army. I fear for her saftey but know that the discipline will make her very successful when she gets out. No matter what happens in life, I love them both.
Currently my Grandson rocks my entire world. He is my motivation. He came earlier in my life than one would expect. It is a blessing. I never had a brother or a son. I'm glad to be young enough to experience his life.
