Rock from the 50s, 60s, 70s, especially hard rock and progressive rock, more modern electronic sounds, acoustic folk. Things I read. Friends.
Some of my things, especially those from the Suite Indigo compilation, have been said to sound like the offspring of Black Sabbath and King Crimson. Some are patterned after pieces I particularly like...or portions of them are. The extended coda of Herd 2008, for example, hearkens back to Zappa's Hot Rats solo section. Word is guitar funk somewhat like the Chili Peppers.
I'm fairly new to lead guitar, and my primary influences are Tony Iommi and Zappa. I also listen to a lot of Fripp's work...anyway you can play spot the influence if you like but I believe I have a sound of my own.
moderan is a person and not a band. I've been playing various instruments since the early 70s. Bass and guitar are the ones I'm most proficient at, but I also sing, play keyboards and drums and produce everything via computer hardware/software. I can also be found at: ModBlog |
