I live in Los Angeles, where I enjoy chewing gum - often while walking - and eating a lot of pizza and chocolate. But not together. I can juggle and am also a really, really good napper, but I have not found a way to combine those two talents.

My favorite book ever is THE HITCHHIKER'S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY by Douglas Adams. Also, Lemony Snicket's A SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS inspired me to try writing for younger readers.

Sounds like a Book! I'm not a musician - I can't play any instruments and my singing voice is terrible. (I do whistle, but I'm not ready to record an album for it...)
I'm a novelist - my first book, a YA novel, was published by Dutton/ Penguin and Walden Media on February 14, 2008. SIMON BLOOM, THE GRAVITY KEEPER is the story of a boy who finds a book that lets him control the laws of physics. His friends and he have a great time playing with them until other people with science-controlling powers of their own come to steal the book...and these people aren't very nice. The sequel, SIMON BLOOM: THE OCTOPUS EFFECT, is coming out in June 2009. Plus, SIMON BLOOM has been optioned by Universal Pictures, with Gary Ross - the writer/ director of SEABISCUIT and PLEASANTVILLE - producing. Here are excerpts from some reviews (you can read the whole reviews at my website - www.michaelreisman.com): ************************************************************** REVIEW: Kirkus Reviews, 1/15/08

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Reisman's fast-paced, cinematic first novel, already optioned by Universal Studios, transcends its Spiderwickian premise to move in a different direction: it makes scientific concepts interesting and accessible."

"Part “Harry Potter,” part The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, with a hint of “Goosebumps” thrown in for good measure"
AN EARTH DAY EXCERPT - A DOG'S EYE VIEW Ziggy put his paws over his floppy black ears. He knew what was coming. He knew the Professor was ready to launch into one of his long tirades and he couldn't bear to hear it. It was just too painful for his sensitive ears. He had heard there were places on the earth that were messed up. Word had gotten around. His friends had told him. The birds, who traveled back and forth through the seasons, flying everywhere over water and land, had seen it. Bird told Rabbit. Rabbit had been frightened when he told the gentle deer. And Deer had told Ziggy. Something awful was happening in these places called cities.
The squirrels were gathering more nuts than they needed, afraid there wouldn't be any more trees. Their friends the frogs were disappearing and no one knew why. They needed the frogs! They're the ones who sing to the thunder being. Their song brings on the rain.
Everyone was talking about it. They told Ziggy the problem was his friends, the humans. They were taking up more space than the Great Universal Source had allotted them. Turtle said the humans should learn to slow down and look around. Snake said some of their poisons would wake them up soon enough. Spider said not to worry. The humans had created a web and gotten caught in it. But some of them would see their way out. They could see the light, the weaving of the whole universe. And after all, even flying insects knew to go to the light, didn't they?

Don't think I ever commented you back from months ago. So sorry! I haven't been as on top of the whole myspace thing as I should have been.
Life is going along fine. My second novel has been out on submittal with my agents for months, and hoping to hear back soon on that. And just finished my third novel on Friday.
Hope your writing is going well, and that our paths cross again someday! Update me when you can.
