Planting Seeds Records is home to the best in independent popular music. From the fuzzed out melodic pop/rock of Freeheat (featuring Jim Reid, Ben Lurie and Nick Sanderson of The Jesus & Mary Chain - plus Romi Mori of The Gun Club), International Jetsetters (featuring Mark Crozer and Loz Colbert of the Jesus And Mary Chain) and The Tamborines (Fuzz folk pop from London via Brazil) to the gentle mellow atmospheric flow of NYC folk chanteuse Linda Draper's angelic vox and acoustic guitar - try even the superb pop excellence of The Voyces or the can't miss ultra cool electropop from Alex Sharkey's Pinkie - Who can forget the rebirth of PSR's first band Sunday Smoke Kit led by singer/songwriter/PSR co-founder Scott Meiggs...a rather simple formula...it's Timeless, Essential, Cool, music.
Planting Seeds began back in 1998 with the release of low-fidelity heroes, Sunday Smoke Kit. The label followed with a slew of releases from Astropop 3, bossa nova ala Jumprope, CMJ darlings and garage pop with boy/girl exchange in Athens, GA's Gritty Kitty, 3AM moods via the UK's Dakota Suite, psych folk with Michael Barrett (of The Essex Green and Ladybug Transistor among others), and a slew of other fine crafted pop music.
Along the way Planting Seeds' have worked with many artists on a variety of projects - Merge Records' Camera Obscura, The Mendoza Line, Sister Vanilla (Linda Reid and William Reid of JAMC), Mark Gardener (of Ride), The Essex Green, pop legend Marshall Crenshaw, guitarist John Beland (Rick Nelson, Flying Burrito Brothers), Jeffrey Foskett (The Beach Boys and Brian Wilson), John McEuen (Nitty Gritty Dirt band) and more!
With over 40 titles, Planting Seeds’ continues to explore new and exciting music worldwide. Great things are in store for the future...we look forward to your company...Enjoy!

Catch
That Rockabilly Fever by Sheree Homer is a candid account of life on the
road and in the studio with '50s legends and today's talent. These are personal
stories told by the artists themselves. It's a soft cover biography that will
be published in October 2009 by McFarland Publishers and retail for $39.95. It
will have never before seen photos (strictly 1950's photos of the legends) and
rare stories from the artists themselves. Catch
That Rockabilly Fever will be approximately 350 pages in length. It will be
unlike any other rockabilly book on the market since it will include some of
today's hottest young talent plus insightful stories from 1950's backing
musicians and engineers for the first time, such as James Kirkland (Bob Luman,
Ricky Nelson), Richie Frost (Ricky Nelson), Steve Handford (Bobby Lee
Trammell), Tony Austin (Rock and Roll Trio), Stanley Walker (Ray Smith), Bobby
Poe (Wanda Jackson), Vernon Sandusky (Big Al Downing) and Bob Sullivan
(KWKH/Louisiana Hayride). Foreword by acclaimed writer Ken Burke.
These forty-six artists will have individual profiles and one
glamorous photo per musician: Glen Glenn, Lew Williams, Art Adams, Elvis
Presley, Ricky Nelson, Bob Luman, Ed Bruce, Dickey Lee, Jack Earls, Hayden
Thompson, Maddox Brothers and Rose, Sonny Burgess, Carl Mann, Ray Smith, Johnny
Powers, Larry Donn, Pat Cupp, Ronnie Hawkins, Bobby Lee Trammell, Huelyn
Duvall, Gene Summers, Sonny West, Buddy Holly, The Collins Kids, Wanda Jackson,
Charlie Gracie, Big Al Downing, Laura Lee Perkins, The Rock and Roll Trio,
Narvel Felts, The Dave and Deke Combo, Kim Lenz, Go Cat Go, High Noon, Larry
Cole, Cari Lee Merritt, Josie Kreuzer, Eddie Clendening, Suzy and Buddy Dughi,
The Casey Sisters, Carl Sonny Leyland, Dawn Shipley, Sue Moreno, Ruby Ann, and
Tex Rubinowitz.
