Manifesto of Intent
1. We promise to look at and write about any and all contemporary visual art created and/or exhibited in San Francisco and Oakland.
2. All galleries and exhibits showing contemporary visual art in San Francisco and Oakland will be listed free of charge. (Go to the website to find out how)
3. Whether one sentence or 3 pages, we will make every attempt to critically review all the visual art that we see. The Village Voice once did it, we will strive to do the same through our website.
4. Our criticism will be honest and accessible, using passion and reason to reach a place of knowledge. Though our words will be unabashedly subjective our conclusions will be tempered by our intellect.
5. We will remain UNBIASED in our reviews by any personal and/or business affiliations. Plainly speaking, if we conclude that something is, in our opinion, good, bad or so-so, we will say it, irregardless of any relationship with the magazine..
6. Plastic Antinomy will support the contemporary visual arts in all if its manifestations, “High” to “Low”.
7. We will act as a locus of information and a forum for dialogue about our arts scenes by publishing a free quarterly print magazine as well as maintaining an up to the minute website.
8. Through collaboration and education Plastic Antinomy will work to extend the reach of the San Francisco/Oakland arts scenes by enhancing their status in the art world through dialogue.
9. Our focus will be on the visual art that is happening right here, right now, putting it into the context of the local, regional, national and global art scenes.
10. We will push our artists and our art scenes to even greater heights by using our words fearlessly.
