Plastic Pancake is a non-profit independent label created late 1997.
The idea was to give a chance to new unsigned artists to get a first release straight from their demos. All the artists agreed to give us their songs without beeing paid (like all the people involved in the label) ,as the money made by the sales is used to put out new records , all strictly limited to 500 copies .This is how we released several records with the following bands:
REFRY (aka Maison Neuve) , SLEEK , VERDURIN (ex Lol) , RIVER , MARINE TIME KEEPERS , LES POISSONS SOLUBLES , PICTURE CENTER (ex the Field Mice / Northern Picture Library ) , ELECTROPHÖNVINTAGE (ex A Place For Parks , aka the Sunny Street ) , TIM CHAPLIN , GREG MURRAY , ROCK STONE (aka H Bird) , COLUMBUS and PAS DE PRINTEMPS POUR MARNIE .
We don't want to be actors of the current music recession as we think there is still a potential of 500 indiepop lovers who knows a record is thousand times more sexy than a mp3.
