Plastic Toys follow, bringing rock's dirty underbelly to the Winchester stage. If you've ever had had a sleazy thought, chances are these guys have probably written about it, and still passed it off as charismatic. A mixture of glam rock and electro is delivered with such confidence it's hard not to get drawn into their charm. To make it even harder to resist, the choruses are infectious and after a dramatic entrance onto the smoky stage, admit it, you're pretty much sold. But just in case, the gritty and raw vocals are perfect for this hard rock, clear and emotional and every second of the set is aggressively energetic with a dark image to mirror the music.

Their sleazy guitars are wrapped around a bluesy influence whilst being draped over plenty of electro-rock. Sexy and ridiculously sassy. 'Tonight Only' seems to be a fave, showcasing more of a sentimental side. Like the rest of the set it's chaotic but perfectly clear, with fantastic riffs. The night has provided a rock spectrum and this front man is pulling out all the moves for a relentless performance.

The Mayfair Mall Zine

One band that really made their mark on me were Southampton’s Plastic Toys, as they opened up the electro metal infusion set with ‘Still Alive’ and from this point on I was hooked on the band, as front man Jon reminded me of a young Trent Reznor and the sound the band put together was definitely edging towards NIN.

The band were certainly on their way to making new friends and fans with one of the sets of the day with tracks like the anthemic ‘Let Me Feel The Love’, the electro pop metal of ‘Devil’, and the excellent ‘God Damn You All’, where guitarist Si really showed his metal as he whipped up a storm on this one.

The song of the set had to be the simply mind-blowing electro rocker ‘Tonight Only’, which topped a great set that was in my opinion about 30 minutes too short, so let's hope that when Trashstock comes around again next year, this band are given a more high profile slot as they are destined for greatness. I was so impressed I even bought the bands CD 'For Tonight Only', let's hope this is not the case and we are treated by the band at a future date, either next Trashstock or out on tour.

Plastic Toys For Tonight Only Rated 9.2/10

'Last Night I Fucked Your Girlfriend' forms the opening line of 'For Tonight Only' the long awaited debut album from Southampton's best kept secret the electronic sleaze machine that is the Plastic Toys.

Theres a good reason why we've been so impressed with the Toys, both at recent gigs with Spit Like This and just recently as they supported Trashlight Vision, and that's because they've honed their skills, and kicking out the most exquisite sleazy sound with driving guitars, dirty samples, and lyrics that would make your dear old mum run for the nearest church to pray for your soul.

After you have gone out on bought this album upon it's release you will hold in your hand (or your computer will cuddle them for you if you prefer to download) an album that is full of ass kicking rock n roll that those of with a narrow mind will tell you is shit because it has bleepy bits in it. Those with any sense will be screaming along to 'Let Me Feel The Love', 'Dirty' and 'God Damn You All'.

It's dirty, it's naughty and one day it'll probably be illegal, but right now this is possibly one of the best debut albums on the planet. The sooner someone out there gets them out on full tours supporting the likes of Trashlight Vision on every show rather than just Southampton the better off everyone will be.

Top track goes to Dirty. 'I get a kick out of this, I'm making love with my fist'. Dirty? Fuck yeah

TALK MAGAZINE Plastic Toys - Let Me Feel The Love (Single)

Plastic Toys mix of glam aesthetic and synthetic machismo gives them something that separates them from the current crop of British rock music. This effort is fundamentally different to their other work, and has a bucket load of commercial appeal that may see them to chart success. This is more Shiny Toy Guns Indie-electro masterclass or Transmission-era Lost Prophets than heavy melodic Stabbing Westward style Industrial and it works well for the band. With some catchy lyrics and blues infected guitars the band really “hit the jackpot” on this confident offering: “I’m the cute little voice that keeps saying you should. I make the good things bad and the bad things good.” Sexy, sassy and full of rock heavy glitz and glitter, this latest single is the start of the bands commercial onslaught on your ears…get ready to feel the love and put on some eyeliner while you’re at it. Plastic Toys - Let Me Feel The Love (Hill Valley Records)

"Gloriously or tragically retro-glam funk that's as black as Michael Jackson. We love it. Plastic Toys are great, as a product, group or as a band. This track kicks arse, and it's licking, not ticking all the boxes. There really is nothing other to say than buy it, buy it, buy i again and hope that they get to eat Simon Cowell's liver live on primetime."

Komodo Rock Website www.komodorock.com

Southampton's Plastic Toys reek of sleezy, drunken rock and roll. This is what Nine Inch Nails would have been had Trent Reznor not been so pissed off and had rocked out on the Strip with Motley Crue, swaggering along with a bottle of Jack Daniels in one hand. With their latest single, the Toys wanna feel the Love, and after you've heard this, you'll wanna feel it too. We can feel the love of the twisted industrial glam maniacs talking of lesbians, being abused in the name of love, and loving every minute. With industrial esque synths firing off in the background, huge guitars, and a frontman in Jon Plastic who can actually pull of the sleazyness that the band desire. The Toys are building up a damn fine live following, and with the release of "Let Me Feel The Love" they have the chance to catapult themselves into the hearts and dirty thoughts of rock fans everywhere, and with a video included as well, you can rock out in your bedroom, complete with scantily clad ladies!

THE FLY MAGAZINE

"Plastic Toys are tight and fast, imbued with an effortlessly cool mix of testicle contracting metal licks, grooves and disco sleaze. Recorded, they're exactly the kind of band you want to see live. Live, they're exactly the kind of band you want to keep plaing until your legs give way, and then some." Matt Golding - The Fly Magazine LOSINGTODAY.COM

"...what cant be denied is that image and sound wise Plastic Toys have the ammunition and the required kudos to propel themselves into the major league and heavy rotation on MTV. Let me feel the love is an awesome lipstick smudged, dirty, deviant babe of a record that kicks like a mule and swaggers like a pimp, all at once sexy and sleazy, subtly referencing a more lighter take on NIN and a more grinding variant of the Dandy Warhols yet that said probably owes its dues to a darkly set T-Rex or Sweet because whatever else you might to call it, this cuts a neat hustling fusion between industrial and glam. A killer debut. www.plastictoys.co.uk. "

SOUTHSCENE.NET

If moody, progressive music and deep & meaningful lyrics are your cup of tea, then youd be well advised to ignore Plastic Toys, but for those of us out there who occasionally like nothing more than a rock and roll band built for pure escapism and fun, then they are a MUST. I love this band. Big, arena-sized, booty shaking glam rock infused industrial songs are guaranteed to have even the most hardened snobs tapping their foot. They have more than enough catchy choruses designed so that the audience knows every word before the song has finished. They look good, they sound massive and they even have the good-looking frontman for your girlfriend to drool over and the beautiful Kitty on bass for all the boys to get excited about! What else could you possibly need?

THE FLY MAGAZINE

"Disco beats and guitar licks that sounded like an amalgamation of T-Rex and Marilyn Manson; lyrics that ran a commentary on the pros and cons of debauchery, abuse, love, fame, death and all things that run through the minds of those hungry for something powerful, meaningful and surprisingly danceable. The electronica present was slight, yet undulating like an almost subconscious, unknown presence that subtly added glamour and presence to these dark, catchy songs. I got caught up in the questions, are they Goth? and are they pop-punk?, I was lost in the moment and I found myself craving more vocal harmonies and some blood. To Plastic Toys I have this to say: If you bugger off to America, as you intend, they will love you - but you will be missed. This performance came as a grand and splendid surprise...."

WWW.SOUTHSCENE.NET - Live Reviews

Live, they are a fearsome presence. Oozing charisma and stage presence and playing some great catchy glam rock metal songs with plenty of good hooks and singable melodies. With such confidence and professionalism alongside such great tunes one can only hope they capture this magic on CD in the future.

Mike Southscene

"The headline act tonight might be new to me, but obviously not to the crowd. Within 10 seconds of their opening song Spaceman you somehow know that Plastic Toys are something special, oozing confidence and charisma they deliver a dynamic, hook laden set somewhere between Nine Inch Nails and T-Rex that is just not the kind of thing you see in small unsigned band venues....... With emotions running high they then launch into final song Tonight Only, a whirlwind of fuzzed up guitars, swirling synths, steam roller drums and again those ever present hooks. The final refrain I wanna live my life like a f***ing Messiah is delivered with such repeated force that the audience are left reeling and you just know this band are destined for a big future."

   About Plastic Toys

THE DIRT Flyer May V1

Latest Review - from SUBBA CULTCHA

Emerging from the ashes of Karmic Jera come Plastic Toys. A scuzzbag manifestation that has ferociously violated a plethora of genres so proficiently the bastard offspring is emphatically sexy.

Any record that opens with the line ‘last night I fucked your girlfriend’ had better have the innovational competence to endorse such unambiguous proclamations. This has been achieved rather substantially right here on this debut album by Southampton four-piece Plastic Toys. Think of nearly every hard rock, sleazy, disco havoc, punk philistine reverberation you’ve ever known entangled in a labyrinth of sound and you’re halfway to appreciating how brilliant this is!

The opening line, as mentioned, comes from ‘Devil’ an energetic blast of frenzied rock and roll with its boots firmly laced up and aiming kicks at your head. Rather originally, it’s preceded by ‘Curtain Up’ a composition around one minute long and consisting, in the main, of some endearing piano coincidental with something you’d often find compassing the silent black and white movies of the 50’s. On ‘Let Me Feel The Love’, a fusion of Marilyn Manson discord hand in hand with discothèque smudges, resides a true air punching anthem of a chorus. The synth driven scampering of ‘Still Alive’ and glammed up promenade that is ‘Dirty’ further inflates the versatility in residence on this record. There’s a solid piano beat chaperoned by punchy drumming on ‘The Tragedy’ before a return to some filthy rock and roll on ‘Tonight Only’.

A slice of backward electronica is the protoplasm that floods the life into ‘Freak Among The Freaks’ just as the frenetic stomp of modernistic punk and roll is the animation for the very brilliant ‘Spaceman’. The desperate reiteration of the author on tragic love anthem ‘I Miss You’ with its grandiose structuring enhancing lyrics like ‘you leave me in silence and I’m scared it’ll never stop’ will twitch even the steeliest of eyes. Bombastic metal/synth anthemic flavouring on ‘The World Goes Bang’ has a garnishing effect on the penultimate ‘God Damn You All’ then it’s full fat synth and guitars for dessert courtesy of ‘Goodbye’.

We’re only 2 months into 2008 and there shall be many exceptional records still to come but this one has shown enough spirit and energy to be hanging from the tip of the keyboards when the end of year polls reveal who’s cut the mustard!

This is such a great quote, I had to pass it along!

"Any intelligent fool can make things bigger, more complex, and more violent. It takes a touch of genius -- and a lot of courage -- to move in the opposite direction." ~E. F. Schumacher

Maybe as a world, we can get back to creative thinking again? That would ROCK!

I hope your weekend is fantastic!
