Plastique Noir was formed at the end of the year 2005 by some members and ex-members from underground bands from Fortaleza/CE/Brazil. Since it started, has been always looking for new ways but not the commom live bands presentation, sometimes poorly explored in their artistic possibilities not only in the musical aspects.
Therefore, Airton S. (ex-Mallka), Márcio Benevides (ex-The Memphis Mafia), Danyel Fernandes (Silenzio) and Max Bernardo (ex-Dust To Dust/Rebel Rockets) joined to take advantage of the post-punk revival which has been recently followed by many bands. Plastique Noir bet in the somber face of this line, bringing back the gothic rock/darkwave from the 80s and 90s, but always with a contemporary approach which add elements of related styles like death rock, industrial, ethereal, new romantic, punk rock and even electro. His plurality is the basis of the form which involves and give (non)life to the content promoting at the same time a dialogue between the viscerality, marginality and self-destructive hedonism of the (post)punk, with the sofistication and refinement of the academic classic. The peak of the synthetic, cold and phantasmagoric atmosphere is reached by the fifth member: Sister Hurricane, an old drum machine SR-16.
Unique in the style in Fortaleza, the Plastique Noir (black plastic, in french) embraces the name of the bag used to store dead bodies in morgues. The music, gloomy but pleasant to dance, involves bodies and minds carrying them to an intensive experience with their english-written lyrics which evocates the myths and facts of horror, morbidness, melancholia and madness created by the conflict of the infinite passions proper to the human existential labyrinth. Besides, each step the band takes is meticulously planned by its members, from lyrics and melodies to graphical arts and cenography, by using their very diverse professional aptitudes. This goes with their proposal to be a multimedia and artistically self-sufficient band.
Bio
The band started it activities in the end of 2005, when it made a promotional gig for it first demo. Largely acclaimed by audience and critic, this debut record - "Offering" - had its pulling completely sold-out and was very divulgated through the band's gigs, on the Internet and various presentations at midiatic means of their home-city, like Jornal O Povo (many times in the sections related to arts and culture), TV Diário (at the Caderno 3 show among Montage, nowadays one of the great references of Brazil's electro-rock bands), TV União (interview at Da Hora show), TV Assembléia (two times at O Quarto show and one time at Identidade Cultural Show) and the radiofonic show CE-95 of Radio Mix (which has a great audience among the young audience - Plastique Noir played alive and was interviewed at the top of radio's building, one of highest points of Fortaleza city). In a national level, the band was notable in a recent notice at Valhalla Music Magazine, where was chosen as the 2006 revelation band, and at the Bizz Music Magazine, where was interviewed by the journalist Daniela Arrais. Some songs of this initial era are still playing at Radio Mix and Radio Guarani (on the countryside of the state of Ceará), as well at the Internet's virtual radios, like The Maozoleum Radio (São Paulo) and Ralacoco Radio (Brasília). Plastique Noir's songs are been played also by DJs in various parties in São Paulo (Maozoleum Party, Theatro dos Vampiros and Underground Lab) and in Portugal (Bouquet of Dreams). With effect, the growing and fidelity of Plastique Noir's audience is happening at many states of Brazil, like São Paulo, Bahia, Brasília, Paraná, Rio Grande do Norte, Rio Grande do Sul, Rio de Janeiro and Paraíba, as well at other countries as Chile, Argentina, France, South Africa (Zeplins Night Club, at Pretoria), Peru and Portugal - at this last country, Plastique Noir was interviewed by Luiz Soncini, to the famous magazine Elegy Iberica, dedicated to the gothic subculture. The first invite for gigs outside band's home-city Fortaleza were for São Paulo (September 16), opening for the north-american band The Cruxshadows (the fifth band in audience's choice at Wave Gotik Treffen, the greatest goth festival on Earth, that happens every year at Leipzig, Germany) on their first Brazilian tour. In August 5, Plastique Noir played at one of greatest independent festivals of Fortaleza, Ponto.CE, with many local bands and national headlines such as Forgotten Boys, Ludov and Dead Fish. In december, it was invited to open the concert of Engenheiros do Hawaii, famous brazilian band. Played also in the Cena Som Project (University Theatre - UFC), Universities Bands Festival (Plastique Noir was one of the winners), Nietzsche-Deleuze International Philosophicus Symposium, Superdrive Project (party that happens every week at Orbita Night Club that presents independent bands from Fortaleza), Rock e Cordel Festival (Banco do Nordeste Culture Center) and for several editions of Dança das Sombras (gothic festival that happens every month, in Fortaleza city).
Now, Plastique Noir is working to publicize the follower of their well-succeeded E.P. "Urban Requiems" is the newborn opus, presenting 4 re-recordings from Offering and 4 new songs. Beside this, this year of 2007 keeps more positive things for the band, like tours for Brasilia and Salvador and the invite to play at Wave Gotik Treffen 2007 edition, that will happen between 25th to 28th May, at Leipzig/Germany.
O Plastique Noir formou-se no final de 2005 por membros e ex-membros de bandas do underground de Fortaleza/CE/Brasil. Desde o início, tem sido grande sua busca em superar os formatos convencionais de apresentação ao vivo, às vezes pouco explorados em suas possibilidades artístico-performáticas e intertextualizadoras com outras linguagens que não a musical.
Assim, uniram-se Airton S. Esta pluralidade confere a forma que envolve e dá (não)vida ao contéudo, ao mesmo tempo que promove um diálogo entre a visceralidade, marginália e o hedonismo auto-destrutivo próprios do (pós)punk, e a sofisticação e requinte do clássico acadêmico. O arremate na atmosfera sintética, fria e alienígena provém do quinto integrante: Sister Hurricane, uma antiga drum machine SR-16.
Única no estilo em Fortaleza, o Plastique Noir (que, em francês, significa plástico negro) adota como nome o saco que guarda cadáveres em necrotérios. A música, soturna mas dançável, também envolve corpos e mentes, levando-os a uma experiência intensa através de letras em inglês que evocam os mitos e factualidades de horror, a morbidez, a melancolia e a loucura gerada no conflito das infinitas paixões que habitam o labirinto existencial humano. Além disso, cada passo da banda é meticulosamente planejado por seus membros, desde a parte lírico-musical às artes gráfica e cenográfica, valendo-se de suas aptidões profissionais bastante diversas entre si, sacramentando assim sua proposta como banda multimídia e auto-suficiente em termos artísticos.
Histórico
A banda iniciou suas atividades no final de 2005, tendo feito seu primeiro show no início de 2006 - já lançando seu primeiro disco demo. Bastante elogiado por público e crítica, este registro de estréia - "Offering" - teve sua tiragem esgotada e foi bastante divulgado através de seus shows, da internet e de apresentações nos veículos midiáticos de sua cidade: Jornal O Povo (diversas vezes, nas seções de Arte e Cultura), TV Diário (no programa Caderno 3, junto da banda Montage - hoje uma grande referência do rock cearense no Brasil inteiro), TV União (Programa Da Hora), TV Assembléia (duas vezes no programa O Quarto e uma vez no programa Identidade Cultural) e no programa CE-95 da Rádio Mix (de grande audiência com o público jovem, onde o Plastique Noir tocou ao vivo no topo do prédio da rádio e juntamente concedeu entrevista ao locutor Fabinho Monteiro). Em nível nacional, obteve destaque em recente matéria na Revista Valhalla, onde foi apontada como banda-revelação de 2006 e na revista Bizz, onde concederam entrevista para a jornalista Daniela Arrais. As músicas desta leva inicial ainda são constantemente executadas na Mix e na Rádio Guarani, do interior do estado, além das rádios virtuais da Internet, como The Maozoleum Radio (SP) e Rádio Ralacoco (DF - Programa Réquiens Urbanos). Suas canções também têm sido discotecadas em eventos de São Paulo (The Maozoleum Party, Teatro dos Vampiros e Underground Lab) e de Portugal (Bouquet of Dreams). Com efeito, têm sido grande o crescimento e fidelização de seu público em estados como São Paulo, Bahia, Paraná, Rio Grande do Norte, Rio Grande do Sul, Rio de Janeiro, Paraíba e em outros países, como Chile, Argentina, Peru, África do Sul (Zeplins Night Club, em Pretoria), França e Portugal - neste último, a banda foi recente destaque em entrevista para Luiz Soncini, da conceituada revista Elegy Iberica, voltada para a subcultura gótica. Em sua cidade natal, participou do grande festival Ponto.CE, ao lado de headlines nacionais como Forgotten Boys, Dead Fish e Ludov. Em dezembro de 2006, foi convidada como banda de abertura para show da banda Engenheiros do Hawaii, de renome nacional. Apresentou-se também no Projeto Cena Som (Teatro Universitário - UFC), Festival Universitário de Bandas (sendo uma das vencedoras), Simpósio Filosófico Internacional Nietzsche-Deleuze, projeto Superdrive (mostra de bandas autorais de Fortaleza na boate Órbita), Festival Rock e Cordel (Centro Cultural Banco do Nordeste) e em várias edições do Dança das Sombras (festa gótica mensal de Fortaleza).
Atualmente, divulgam seu segundo disco recém-finalizado, intitulado "Urban Requiems". Entretanto, 2007 reserva mais conquistas para a banda, com viagens para outras cidades (Salvador, em 10 de março, e Brasília, em 17 de março) .e o convite para tocar na edição de 2007 do Wave Gotik Treffen, a realizar-se entre os dias 25 a 28 de maio, em Leipzig/Alemanha.
