DJ PLAY [BUMSQUAD DJZ WORLDWIDE / SPINADDICTS / THE TEKS / PLAY ENTS / SONYBMG]
After organising and hosting promotional events for labels such as Virgin Records and DefJam UK, Play was signed to Sony/BMG in 2005 and has since hosted official events for artists such as Usher, Jamie Foxx, Justin Timberlake, Beyonce, Kelly Rowland and Chris Brown to name just a few.
Play won his residency at top UK HipHop & RnB night “LoveDough” after defeating 3 rival DJs in the DJ competition “Battle Jam” and has since DJ’d alongside the likes of Fatman Scoop, Shortee Blitz, Semtex, Tim Westwood, Trevor Nelson, Jazzy Jeff and many more..
A DJ firmly on the edge of new DJ technology, Play chose CDJs and Serato as his prime choice for his radio show, mixtape releases, and rocking the party as vinyl began to fade from the club scene in the UK
It was after the Teknicians produced the UK mixtape for the Aftermath producer "Focus..." that they would meet and become members of 2 leading DJ collectives.
Whilst promoting the project in Los Angeles, Play & Devon were inducted to the "Bumsquad DJz" & "SpinAddicts"
Play can be found spinning at his residencies in Newcastle, Sheffield & Belfast also finding time to travel overseas, regularly spinning at club spots in Russia and Los Angeles.
- TAKEN FROM BLUES & SOUL MAGAZINE The career path of the Teknicians so far reads pretty much like a "how to do it" checklist for aspiring DJs. Play and Devon have covered pretty much all bases through a combination of vision, talent and sheer hard work.
These DJs are key players in two of the most important street teams - Play for Sony/BMG and Devon for DefJam UK. Together, these have led to them hosting release parties for the likes of Busta Rhymes, Pharrell Williams, Fat Joe, Destiny's Child, Kanye West and 50 Cent to name a few.
