A project in the making for some time, Gray has just recorded a song he wrote as a tribute to the friends, family and workers of those who fell at the hands of 911. Regardless of the source of the individuals and evil intentions responsible for the disaster, how the lives of those left behind have been affected is a matter of universal concern and compassion by the vast majority of people on this planet. As Gray himself relates the story of the birth of "Freedom Lives On In America," "I was in the shower several months after 911 occured and realized that up to that point I had been detached from the actuality and the reality of what really occurred to real people, real families, real friends. I literally started crying. Through tears I wrote a song that was performed in the Los Angeles area and for which I was always asked to make a recording. I wasn't interested in a commercial release, so opted to perform it only live. But now, after doing more research into the tragedy and how the very fabric of freedom that our forefathers wove is potentially threatened by the spectator-like posture of people who could otherwise make a huge difference in keeping our country, though imperfect as it is, the strongest and brightest bearer of the torch of freedom to ever exist on this planet - I have decided to record the song and to raise funds for those families affected directly by the tragedy through it's sale. I present to you "Freedom Lives On In America." Please listen to it's message and pass it on to your children." - Gary Gray. This recording will soon be for sale. It features a new artist discovered by Gray at Springs Theatre; the girlfriend of one of the Studio's interns, Lynn Oakley, who makes her recording debut. "She captured the dichotomy of both the poignant and the powerful messages within the song itself," stated Gray.
Update: Dec 9, 2009 - The Executive Directors of the International non-profit organization "Tuesday's Children," based in NY City, which helps children of the victims of acts of terror, has just commissioned me to write the official Theme Song for their organization, to be titled "Tuesday's Children" and to produce an album. I am deeply honored to say the least.
