PLAYGROUND RIVALS brings edgy driving swampy bare-assed ROCK to its listeners far and wide. No strangers to the national music scene, the members of "PGR" have shared stages with many of today's top artists in both the country and rock worlds. With names like CANDLEBOX, LIFEHOUSE, SEVEN MARY THREE and even EDWIN McCAIN, it's easy to see why PGR may appear to be a very new band, but in essence they have been with us for quite sometime.
On a mission to make 2009 the break out year, PGR is doing all that is in its power- breaking down every bulwark to see a national tour and debut album come about. Enlisting friends from around the Atlanta area such as Scott Patton of Sugarland, James Hall of Pleasure Club and Player Commander and Mike Froge of Open Sky Studios just to name a few, PGR looks to bring a soulful sound with huge hooks and rowdy driving beats. Jon Brown, band founder and guitarist says "Over the last year we have really come into our own. 2008 was a year to get our bearings, find our sound, develop our show, and convince the crowd." Now in our second month of 2009, PGR has done just that and now looks ahead with fearless determination with what is to come in '09.
