Born Kimie (pronounced Kimi-ay) Kauikeolani Miner, in Hawaii, this 21 year old singer/songwriter has developed an eclectic musical style all her own. Her parents, of Hawaiian and Portugese decent, noticed her unmistakable talent at a very young age. “I fell in love with music as a child and it naturally just became apart of my life. It is my mother, my brother, my best friend, and my first love. No matter where I am in my life, I know I can always turn to music.”
A self taught guitarist and song writer, Kimie perfected her songwriting skills and grew as a musical artist while boarding at Kamehameha Schools in Honolulu . “India.Arie inspired me to pick up a guitar when I was 14 years old and write from my heart. Other artists like Lauryn Hill and Erykah Badu showed me how to be an individualist and remain true to myself."
Kimie’s signature style weaves acoustic soul, Hawaiian, reggae, and a touch of R&B and funk, into cool sultry melodies. Her free spirit can be heard through her lyrics touching on love, life, and relationships. With impressively mature lyrics, Kimie has taken life experiences and turned them into original compositions, of which she has recorded and produced solely on her own from instruments, arrangements, vocals, etc. “When something happens in my life, whether good or bad, I can almost immediately hear it being sung to a melody. Each situation creates a different mood. The words follow.” Her lyrics prove universal, spanning race, gender, and age.
Kimie has toured the west coast opening for reggae pioneer Barrington Levy. She has also collaborated with reggae’s most prolific production team, Sly and Robbie, She has traveled the world, living and recording in Jamaica, Hong Kong, Tahiti and Hawai’i.
Kimie took the initiative to start her own recording process, taking total creative control in putting her album together. Now she is very excited about the release of her much anticipated album that will debut in the near future! Check her myspace website for updates and details.

"Where are we to look for our survival, for the answers to the questions which have never before been posed? We must look, first, to the Almighty God who has raised man above the animals and endowed him with intelligence and reason. We must put our faith in him, that he will not desert us or permit us to destroy humanity which he created in his image. We must look into ourselves, into the depths of our soul We must become something we have never been, and for which our education and experience and environment have ill-prepared us. We must become bigger than we have been, more courageous, greater in spirit, larger in outlook. We must become members of a new race, owing our ultimate allegiance not to nations, but to our fellow men within the human community."
