Below is part of the blog about Hearth to Hearth Ministries trip to African orphanages.
I (Hearth to Hearth Ministries' Director) went with Maurice and he allowed the children to speak to me and give me their concerns. There were quite a number of orphans, but only three spoke. The first expressed his concerns for the children at the gates and asked me to find a way to bring them into the orphanage. The second two spoke of the children that had recently come into the orphanage and asked me to please allow them to stay.
There concern was for the children at the gates. One girl had even wept that her own sister had been raped just outside our orphanage gates. It is truly a painful situation.
Holiday greetings from the hearts of the African orphans to your heart. How overwhelmed the orphans would be if they could see for themselves the bounty that most of us take for granted. How overwhelmed we would be if we had to live for one day in the extreme poverty on the streets of the cities and villages in Africa!
Orphans who are blessed to have been taken into an orphanage have been given a gift from someone who decided to sponsor an orphan and share their plenty with an orphan child who had nothing.
Thank you for adding us to your friends list. My wife and I are currently on furlough in Fresno, but we are going back to South Africa in October for the month. We are currently doing a fund raiser amongst our supporters in a effort to install the first pump under the umbrella of Reaching a Generation Ministries. We have offices in South Africa and South Carolina USA, and are a fully tax-exempt missionary organization. We are ourselves being sent out from Peoples Church here in Fresno www. peopleschurch. org
We love the idea of the play pumps and have been in contact with Trevor for some time now; we have seen first hand on our two previous mission trips to South Africa what is needed, and thats why we are going back.
