AQUA TEEN HUNGER FORCE COLON THE MOVIE FILM FOR THEATERS World Premiere 4/9/07
Designed by architect George Harwell Bond, this theatre opened its doors in 1939 as a 1000 seat art deco cinema & live theatre. In the 70s the cinema operated as an X-rated adult cinema and live burlesque theatre until 1983 when it was purchased by George Lefont. Mr. Lefont renovated the theatre and the balcony was enclosed to create a second screen. The theatre underwent renovations again when purchased by longtime Atlanta residents Jonathan & Gayle Rej in August of 2006. The Plaza Theatre is the last cinema of its kind in Atlanta, as well as the oldest continously operating cinema in the city.
Who I'd like to meet: Anyone who likes good movies shown in a really cool classic theatre.
It was awesome seeing IN BRUGES today at 5:45 and playing Altered Beast! Can't wait to (hopefully) see GREASE with my girl and RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD with Alex Kowl. Awesome stuff.
Can't wait to see you guys Saturday night and hopefully make you lots of popcorn money. One more time for people who are still on the fence about coming out...
Chunk: Listen, okay? You guys'll never believe me. There was two cop cars, okay? And they were chasing this four-wheel deal, this real neat ORV, and there were bullets flying all over the place. It was the most amazing thing I ever saw! Mikey: More amazing than the time Michael Jackson come over to your house to use the bathroom?
13 GHOSTS is going to be great, but I am unbelievably enthusiastic about ERASERHEAD. I never thought I would EVER see it in a theatre. This may be the greatest thing ever.
I've only been to your theatre a couple times (both were the last two Saturdays, for PERSEPOLIS and GODZILLA) but I wanted to say that I have insane amounts of respect for what you do. I think it's amazing that there's a theatre not far from where I live that plays awesome cult and independent films that places like (ugh) Great Escape wouldn't. You guys really are awesome! This is the kind of theatre I've been wanting to go to my whole life, and I thank you. Can't wait to come back this Friday for ROCKY HORROR with Alex Cole!
Sorry I didn't make it out for Godzilla. I do love those big old lizards. But we had to put the finishing touches on the amazing and unrivaled LOADED GUNS. We'll see you guys on April 5th, 9:30... on the DOT.
